Looking for information on an Archie Gillis and Catherine MacLellan who lived in the Grand Mira area. Catherine was born ca 1810 in Scotland and Archie had died before the 1871 Census. There were twins Ronald and Duncan in the family and daughters Mary and Christie. There may have been other children. When the house hold was enumerated during the 1871 Census John Gillis (Duncan, Martin) was the preceding household and Alexander Gillis (Angus Red) was the latter household. I wonder if this was Duncan (Martin) son Archie that married in Halifax or was this Archie (Allan, Alexander) that had come from Broad Cove to teach at Mira. To my knowledge he died a single man in 1859. Could this be another Archie I have no information on? Would also be interested in knowing if this Catherine MacLellan had connections to other MacLellan families in Nova Scotia. Any input would be appreciated Thanks in advance J. R.
