Born in Glace Bay, N.S., on June 1, 1948, he was the son of the late Alexander and Marguerite (Macdougal) Bresson. Predeceased by his sister Marguerite Gaetan. Alex is survived by his loving wife Mae (Green); daughters, Lisa (Jonas) Naphtali and Alexa (Mike Francisco); cherished grandchildren, Maggie, Juliet and Manuel who brought him much joy; siblings, Donna (Stewart) Merrill, Kathy (John) Gaetan, Francis (Linda) Bresson, Debbie (Paul) O’Hanley, Danny (Grace) Bresson, Blanche (Gordon) Ferguson, Raymond (Gail) Bresson, Mary Gaetan and many nieces and nephews. Also leaves behind his wife’s sisters Mary (Paul) Foley, Nadine ( Joseph) Cullen, Christine Elliott (Brian Hastings) and brother Peter Green (Geri Masters) and their children. Alex had a great love of life and people and lived his life mainly for his family. He had a vast number of friends across Canada and strong bonds with his siblings. An electrician by trade, he was a member of the IBEW Union Local 625 for 46 years. He was also a volunteer firefighter with the L.W.F Fire Department and spent a lot of his time on outdoor activities like camping, fishing and hunting. He will be missed greatly and remembered as a loving person who valued the happiness of others and always had a story to tell. Visitation to be held Wednesday, April 16, 2014, 7-9 p.m. and funeral services on Thursday, April 17, 2014, at 10 a.m. Both will be held at St. Rose of Lima Church located at 9 Jamieson Drive in Fall River. John 'Rollie' Donovan Born In: Ingonish Beach Born: March 25th, 1943 Passed in: North Sydney Passed on: April 13th, 2014 John Roland 'Rollie' Donovan passed from this life at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Sunday, April 13, 2014, with his family by his side. Rollie was born in Ingonish Beach on March 25, 1943, to Walter and Margaret (Williams) Donovan. Rollie was an avid golfer and golf pro at Highlands Links during the mid 1960s. Rollie could often be found in the North Sydney Mall selling tickets to help raise funds for many charities. His grandchildren were the light of his life. Rollie’s teasing and joking will always be remembered by all who knew him. Rollie is survived by his longtime loving companion, Mary MacIntyre; daughters, Gloria (Davie), Tacha; sons, John (Paulette), Richard (Nancy), Eddy, Alvin (Lisa); sisters, Rosemary LaRusic (John), Paula Mayich (John), Ann Hussey (Keith); brothers, Bill (Jan), Kenny (Rose); stepsisters, Betty Mclnnis, Sylvia Lowes (Larry), Cecilia Shoniker (John), Bernadette Joseph (Bobby), Anna Radzikowski (Vince); stepbrothers, Curtis Whalen, Leonard Whalen (Barbara); grandchildren, Alicia (Mark), Shaun (Jen), Paige, Jonathan, Conley, Brydon, Kevin, Jenna, Brendon, Kirkland, Arron; great–grandchildren, Riley, Carter, Riley, Brookland, the mother of his children, Jessie Donovan and brother-in-law, Fred Williams. Rollie was predeceased by his parents and sister, Sharon Williams. Visitation will take place at Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home in Sydney Mines on Tuesday, April 15, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., resuming at 11a.m. at St. Peter’s Church, Ingonish Beach. Rollie’s life will be celebrated in a service held at St. Peter's Parish Church, Ingonish Beach, on Wednesday, April 16 at 1 p.m. Fr. Jake Andrea officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Lung Association, or a charity of choice.
