This obituary was in my local Kingston Whig Standard Paper... today (April 11). Connie was born in North Sydney. I have NO connection to the family, just passing on the information. http://yourlifemoments.ca/sitepages/obituary.asp?oId=790386 By clicking on the link you will see a picture of her. If the link does not work here is the written information: DENNIS, Constance (Connie) Almyra (nee MacMillan) - February 5, 1919 - April 4, 2014 Connie has joined her late husband of 67 years, Roy, who also passed away at Rideaucrest Nursing Home almost one year ago. Connie and Roy passed away at exactly the same age - 95 years and 58 days. Connie will be missed dearly by her children Gary (Susan) of Rochester, New York, Alison of Kingston, Ontario and Leslie of Calgary, Alberta, her grandchildren: Cathy, Hillary, Wendy, Sara (Tim), Devon, Jerad, and her great grandchildren: Curtis, Hope, Justin, Grace, Jessica, Anna, Toby and Isaac. Connie was one of four children born to Sarah and George MacMillan in North Sydney, Nova Scotia. Connie is predeceased by her brother Ray and sisters Ilma and Shirley. Connie showed incredible resiliency early in life, as her father died when she was six, and she went to live with her relatives, the Stevensons. In her twenties, Connie contracted tuberculosis, and had to leave her job at the Sydney Post Record newspaper, for a stay in sanatorium. Following World War II Connie married Roy, and they moved to Ontario. She loved to read, go for walks by Lake Ontario, and will always be remembered for her kindness, cheery outlook, and love of children. The family of Connie and Roy would like to thank their main caregiver at Rideaucrest Home, Cheryl, for her devotion to their care, as well as others who were so kind and loving to them there: Donna, Wanda, Lorna, Anna, Susan, and others. The family would also like to thank Eleanor and Cam Clark for driving mom to and from church, and Fraser and Georgina Collins at 2 Mowat Ave for their kind support of Connie and Roy while they were still at home in their 90s. Please join us for Connie's memorial service at the First Baptist Church, 110 Sydenham Street, Kingston, Ontario, on Tuesday, April 15 at 1:00 pm. A light lunch will be served following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to First Baptist Church, where Connie was a committed member and attendee until age 93. submitted by Heather Waddingham [email protected]
