He passed away peacefully with his family at his side. George was born in Inverness on October 30th, 1961. He was the son of the late Lloyd O’Connor and Isabel MacIsaac. He is survived by his mother, Isabel; his wife, Paula; daughter Lainie O’Connor and children Aerial, Louie, Crystal (Lennan), Lindsay (Darren); and grandchildren Chase and Sawyer. He was predeceased by his father, Lloyd O’Connor, and his sister, Elaine. Although he loved family and friends, the “apple of his eye” was Lainie. While struggling with ALS, in the last days of his life Lainie’s presence brought out the beautiful smile of a proud and loving father. George loved sports, scuba diving and the beach. He was a gentle man much loved by his family and friends. The family extends a sincere thank you to the staff of the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital for the care and compassion they gave to George. Visitation will take place Wednesday, April 30th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. in Inverness Funeral Home. Funeral mass will take place on Thursday, May 1st at 11:00 a.m. in Stella Maris Parish with Father Duncan MacIsaac officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. MacISAAC It is with great sadness that we regret to announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Madeline MacIsaac, on April 22nd, 2014 in Inverary Manor, Inverness. Born on March 15th, 1929 to the late John Alex and Mary Jane (MacDonald) Kennedy, Madeline was predeceased by her loving husband, John Rankin MacIsaac in 1988. She is survived by sons John (Ramona), Hugh (Darlene), Archie, Lawrence (Sandy), Leo (Linda), and Michael (Patricia); daughters Jane, Elizabeth (Lorne) MacInnis, Karen (Michael) Gillis, and Cathy (Hughie) MacDougall; daughter-in-law Theresa MacIsaac. She is also survived by sister Millie (Beaton) Mac Eachern; grandsons Alexander, Craig, Colin (Dory), Karl, Byron (Holly), Michael (Natasha), Curtis, Michael (Tricia), Bradley, Graham and Cody; granddaughters Laurel (Mel), Sarah (Nick), Madeline, Ainsley, Lisa and Tammy; great-grandchildren Callum, Brayden, Nicole, Alex, Robert, A.J., Dominique, Amber, Kaylee, Cynthia, Nicole and Michael; numerous nieces and nephews who to some she was known as "Ma2"! She was also predeceased by son Alexander; son Michael in infancy; grandson Louis MacInnis; granddaughter Dena MacIsaac; brothers Neil S., Joseph, Dougald and Jack; sisters Sarah, Mendy, Catherine A. and Dolly. Madeline spent her life between Inverness and New Waterford where she took pride in raising her 11 children. In her later years she enjoyed spending time on the computer where she liked to play games and chat with her friends on Pogo. She will always be remembered as having a singing voice of an angel. Visitation took place Monday, April 28th in Inverness Funeral Home. Funeral mass took place on Tuesday, April 29th, at 11:00 a.m. in Stella Marish Parish with Fr. Duncan MacIsaac officiating, burial at a later date in the parish cemetery. CAMERON James Darrell “Jimmy” Cameron passed away peacefully in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital on Thursday April, 24th, 2014, in the company of family, after a brief battle with cancer. Jimmy was born in Inverness on March 20th, 1954, to the late Dan Joe and Christine (MacMillan) Cameron. Jimmy is survived by his son, Joey Cameron Greenwood; sisters Allana Burton, Inverness, and Donna Cameron, Kitchener, Ont.; brother Malcolm, Inverness; nieces and nephews Brennan, Buddy, Shane, John, Chad, Danny, Millan, Andrea, Sheena, Haley, Johnny, Allison, Karla and Lisa. Jimmy lived an adventurous life in his younger years as he decided to take employment with Imperial Oil, sailing to ports in Canada and the United States. He was also employed by the Strathlorne Forest Nursery and with Esso, delivering heating oil throughout the county. As for the love of sport, he was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan. He never could convince Joey to cheer for them, though he may have influenced a nephew or two. Family was very important to Jimmy, and with that, his family will miss him dearly. Jimmy is predeceased by his brother, Alex (Helen); sister Glenda (Dougie) Beaton; niece Coline MacDonnell and nephew D.J. Cameron. Cremation has taken place. Aonaibh Ri Cheile/Let Us Unite ARSENAULT Annie Rose Arsenault, age 70, passed away at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto on August 19th, 2013 with her family at her side. Born in Fordview, Inverness County on February 27th, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Clara Arsenault. She was predeceased by brother Gerald. She is survived by husband Jerry; son Michael (Kori), grandchildren Riley and Sara Arsenault, Georgetown, Ont.; brother Eugene, Mississauga, Ont.; sister Mathilda, Fordview, Inverness County; several nieces and nephews. Visitation was at Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home and Chapel, St. Paul’s Basilica, in Toronto, with Msgr. Brad Massman officiating. Cremation followed with burial at St. Paul’s Cemetery. RANKIN It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Hugh Roderick "Gooxe" Rankin, much loved father, grandfather, brother and uncle who peacefully passed away on April 12th, 2014, in the Dartmouth General Hospital at the age of 64 with his family at his side. Hugh was born in Inverness on November 8th, 1949 to the late Mary Elizabeth (MacEachern) Rankin and Angus William Rankin. In his earlier life, Hugh worked as a fisherman with his uncle, John Dan Rankin, and also as a labourer. Hugh was a kind man with a big heart. He was a friend, was loved by many and will be missed by all. He was a man of strong faith and a member of the Stella Maris Parish in Inverness. Hugh was an avid sports fan who loved all sports. He would be found at the Inverness racetrack most Sundays and Wednesdays, awaiting a day of harness racing while carefully analyzing the program with his buddies on the hope of catching a long shot. Hugh loved watching baseball and of course his favorite team, the San Francisco Giants. Over the years he was known to have bragging rights about viewing five no-hitters. Football and the New York Giants was another love for Hugh. His all time favorite winter sport was hockey and wouldn't think of missing a Chicago Blackhawks game, his longtime team. When spring arrived, Hugh would be found at the local brooks for trout fishing. He lived his last two years at the Inverary Manor, where the staff were very caring, and many went above and beyond their call of duty to make Hugh feel comfortable and at home. Hugh is survived by his loving daughter, Denise (Daniel), and the pride of his life, his only grandson, James Hugh; his sisters, Mary (Michael) Nutt, Wolfville; Ann, Inverness; Betty, Toronto; Frances (Allan), Port Hood; aunts Helen Dwyer, New Waterford; Betty Graham, Judique; nieces Jenny (Gary) Sisson, Dartmouth; Tegan (Robert) Carlisle, Toronto; nephews Lanny (Lisa) Hanscombe, Inverness; Donnie (Jeanette) Rankin, Dominican Republic; Bradley MacDonald, Port Hood. Visitation was in Inverness Funeral Home from 12 noon-1:45 p.m. with funeral following at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22nd, 2014 in Stella Maris Church, Inverness, with Fr.
