Wayne Stone Born In: St. Peters, Nova Scotia, Canada Born: July 25th, 1947 Passed in: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed on: January 8th, 2017 With shattered hearts we announce the passing of our dear brother Wayne Bernard Stone. Born in St. Peters, he was the son of Charlie and Eva Stone. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brothers Vernon Stone, Gordon Stone, and sister Sharon Stone. Wayne is survived by his sisters Frances Campbell (St. Peters), Mary Bennett (Toronto), Gladys Cote (St. Peters), Carolyn Stone (Sydney), Gail Kelly (Larry, Sydney) two brothers, Joseph Stone (Gloria, Sackville N.S.) and Roger Stone (Cathy Walsh, Halifax). Wayne formed a special bond in the hearts of his nieces and nephews and their children. He was also survived by his two great friends Jim Adams and Albert Martin who were like brothers to him. He attended school in St. Peters, trade school in Pt. Edward and served in the Canadian Armed Forces - RCA. Life is a journey and Wayne`s life was very diverse and the subject of many a story. From his days of driving tanks in the army to sailing on the Gypsum boats to his days of roofing in Toronto. After taking a few wrong directions, he eventually found his way back to his Cape Breton Home in St. Peters. Wayne loved his family and friends and was a great lover of music. In his later years he put his mind and focus to playing fiddle and guitar. He was very proud of the musical talents and accomplishments of his family. Wayne had a natural talent for the art of storytelling and could hold court with the best of them, much like his father, Charlie. He seemed to remember things so vividly and could draw you into his stories as if you were there. His stories will most certainly live on but will never be told quite the same. Those who really knew him know that he had a heart of gold and a deep sense of loyalty. He was a champion of the underdog and would always give anyone a chance. If Wayne could leave the next generation with one piece of advice it would be to never blame your vices on your circumstances in life . You and only you hold the winning card and its called choice. Wayne was a loving, genuine man with a strong moral code. He was a fighter to the end. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are being made by Halifax Funeral Home , Cole Harbour. Funeral Mass will be held in St. Peters Catholic Church on January 21st , at 11 a.m. “There’s treasure in heaven for the generous few.”
