Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Peter and Elva (Chant) MacNeil. Kevin spent several years with the Royal Canadian Air Force. After the military, he was employed as a heavy equipment operator and had worked on the Confederation Bridge. He was a former member of St. Anthony’s Church as well as the Knights of Columbus. Kevin was a very independent man who enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, carpentry work and fixing cars. He is survived by his nephew, Steven Pace (Zara), Glace Bay; two aunts, Annie T. and Rita; brother-in-law, Gary Pace; several cousins and many friends from all over the world. Besides his parents, Kevin was predeceased by his three sisters, Marlene Pace, Janet and Bernice in infancy and his brother, Mike ‘Boris’ MacNeil. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay. The funeral mass, officiated by Fr. Norman MacPhee is Monday at 11 a.m. in Holy Cross Church followed by a reception in the church hall. Veterans/Legion members are asked to form an honor guard at the church for their departed comrade. Stephen Aucoin It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stephen Aucoin on Tuesday, January 24 at Victoria Haven Nursing Home, surrounded by his loving family. He was a very hard and dedicated worker and enjoyed a very large cup of tea. He was also an avid card player with his family. Stephen is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Gladys (Quann); his only son, Stephen (Shelley), Spruce Grove, (Grand Cache) AB; grandsons, Stephen and Scott; siblings, Mary Roy-Bremner, Carmel Wadden, Lorraine (Tom) Rogers, Statia (Garfield) White and Jerry. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Mercedes (Colombe) Aucoin and siblings, Pearl, Caroline, Sonny, Franky, Danny and Jude. There will be no visitation by request. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 27, at Holy Cross Church with Fr Norman MacPhee officiating. The interment will be at St Anthony’s Cemetery, at a later date. Lillian Boutilier-Bugden With sadness, we, the family of Lillian Blanche Boutilier-Bugden, regret to announce her passing on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney, at the age of 98. Born May 28, 1918, in Trenton, N. S., she was a daughter of the late Percy and Mary (Bell) Doret. In 1983, Lillian retired from Crowell’s department store, where she had been employed for 15 years. She was a member of the United Protestant Church of Sydney River and the UCW, as well as the Riverdale Senior’s Club. She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Stack (Greg deceased); stepson, Gordon Bugden (Helena); stepdaughter, Judy Artz (Doug); grandchildren, Lillian Thompson, Shane and Kelly Stack, Bruce and Andrew Bugden, Jennifer and Gregory Artz; seven great-grandchildren and very special niece, Barbara MacLeod (Harvey). Lillian was predeceased by her first husband, Edwin Boutilier; second husband, Fred Bugden; sister, Evelyn Reid; stepson, Bill Boutilier, his wife, Lydia and son, Billie. MICHEAL (MICKEY) MACDONALD Born In: SOLDIERS COVE, Nova Scotia Born: November 7th, 1932 Passed in: Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada Passed on: December 21st, 2016 Micheal (Mickey) MacDonald passed away at Royal Inland Hospital, Kamloops, B.C. on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the age of 84 years. There will a Celebration of Mickey’s life sometime during the warmer months of 2017, when all family can be present as his cremated remains are interred in Barra Head Cemetery in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Revelstoke District Health Foundation for the Queen Victoria Hospital Helipad, Box 2421, Revelstoke, B.C. V0E 2S0. Mickey was born in Soldiers Cove, Nova Scotia on November 7, 1932 and had been a longtime resident of Revelstoke. He enjoyed his work as a Heavy Duty Mechanic in the construction industry and those talents served him well over the years. He had restored a multitude of old cars including the 1950 Mercury Monarch which he still owned. Mickey was also a member of the Revelstoke Vintage Car Club and was recently presented with a Lifetime Membership. He enjoyed sitting on his front porch, watching the sights and sounds of the community but what really thrilled Mickey was ‘the open road’ and spontaneous road trips. He loved to travel and driving was the best way to get anywhere. Mickey never drove by anyone in need, always stopping to assist anyone stranded on the side of a road. He had big heart and helping others was his quiet passion. Mickey was predeceased by his wife, Vie in 2000 and one sister, Agnes Sutherland. He is survived by two sisters, Peggy Collet and Mary Jessie Savoie both of Soldiers Cove, Nova Scotia; his daughter, Tina (Mark) Hieb; grandson, Owan and his friend and companion, Betty Ferguson of Revelstoke as well as numerous nieces and nephews and a host of good friends. Jo passed away on Monday, January 23, 2017 at Seaview Manor where she resided the last eleven months. Jo was the daughter of the late Wm. S. and Katherine (Wright) MacInnis. In her younger years, Mom was employed as an operator with Maritime Tel and Tel. Later, after graduating from Leon Academy of Hair Design, she was owner and operator of Jo`s Beauty Salon for many years before joining the staff of Seaview Manor as Activity Director, a job she thoroughly loved. She retired from the Manor in 1991. Her retirement years were very active, enjoying quilting, senior’s aerobics, walking, Tarbish with friends and teas, strawberry festivals, brunches and dinners at all the churches in her community. Mom was an avid Bridge player. Mom was a lifetime member of Warden United Church and a long-time member of Jubilee Rebekah Lodge # 14. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her beloved husband and son, Chalmers Beaton and Dwight Beaton respectively. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Jean (C.R) Mackinnon, Stacia (Duncan) MacPherson; brothers, Jimmy (Madeline) and Wm. Wright MacInnis. Mushie, as she was affectionately called by her family, is survived by her daughter, Jo-Anne (Steve) Campbell; son, James (Paula) Beaton and daughter-in-law, Betty Anne Beaton; grandchildren, Matthew (Lisa) Beaton, Stephanie (James) Shellard and Andrew (Meghan) Campbell; three great-grandchildren, Max Beaton, Gwen Shellard and Charlotte Campbell; nieces, but considered more like her children, Dawn (Bruce) MacKeigan and Valerie (Late Glen) Crowdis and many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Marge (late Tommy) MacLeod, Ruth (late Nelson) Beaton ; brothers-in-law Fred(Betty) Beaton and Kenny (Dolores) Bruleigh.
