Born in New Waterford he was the son of the late John Joseph and Hester (Gouthro) Perfect. He is survived by Lina Perfect, mother of his sons Joseph and Troy Perfect, as well as his daughter, Dianne Hicks; grandchildren, Kyle, Mitchell and Julia Hicks, Alyssa Perfect and Ethan Sharpe. He will also be sadly missed by brothers, Gerard, Timmy; sisters, Elizabeth Cameron, Rose (Leo) Porrier; sister-in-law, Theresa Perfect and 17 nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his daughter, Lisa Anastasia in infancy; brother, Danny; sister, Joyce (Billy) MacLellan and brother-in-law, Danny Cameron. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 1, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., in the V.J.McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. Daniel Raymond ‘Dan’ McIsaac Born In: New Waterford, Nova Scotia Born: December 5th, 1935 Passed in: Glace Bay, Nova Scotia Passed on: February 26th, 2017 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel Raymond McIsaac, 81 of Glace Bay. Dan passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at the Glace Bay Hospital. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Born on December 5, 1935 in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Allan and Flora (MacDougall) McIsaac. Dan worked for 25 years with the Nova Scotia Department of Housing followed by 12 years with Coldwell Banker as a real estate agent. A man with great devotion to his family, he spent nearly 50 summers camping with his family and friends at the Ben Eoin Beach Campground. Very proud of his Scottish Heritage, Dan enjoyed many years as the Chief of the New Waterford Gaelic Society, sang with a Cape Breton based Gaelic Choir, attended Gaelic classes at Cape Breton University and travelled to Scotland on two occasions. An avid sports fan, Dan could often be found following his favorite Boston based sports teams. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, served on the St. Anne’s Church Parish Council and was a ham radio operator (handle VE1 CBL). Dan is survived by his wife of 60 years, Annette (Legere), Glace Bay; his daughter, Debbie (Darrell) MacKinnon, Glace Bay; grandson, Daniel MacKinnon, Kentville; sister, Carmie (Billie) Sehl, New Brunswick; sister, Neila (Joseph) Nugent, Lingan; brother, Mel (Linda) McIsaac, Truro; sister, Heather Kavanaugh, New Waterford. Besides his parents, Dan was predeceased by his brother, Mel (in infancy) and brother-in-law, Bobby Kavanaugh. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. The funeral mass, officiated by Fr. Leo Boone is Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Anne’s Church, Glace Bay followed by a reception in the foyer. ROBERT FRANCIS 'CHOCOLATES' MURPHY Born In: NAPANEE Born: June 6th, 1968 Passed on: February 25th, 2017 It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Robert Francis 'Chocolates' Murphy, 48, of New Waterford on Saturday, February 25, 2017. Robert was born on June 6, 1968 in Napanee, Ontario to Antoinette (Roach) Murphy and the late Raymond Murphy. Robert was known for his great sense of humour and always lending a helpful hand. He always loved making the kids laugh and was a big kid at heart. Robert was very proud of his sons and adored them. In younger years, he enjoyed playing soccer and was a member of the NSSAF provincial winning high school soccer team at Breton Education Centre in 1985. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him. and many friends. Robert was predeceased by his father, Raymond Murphy. Robert leaves behind his three sons, Robbie, Jarrett, and Stephen; special friend, Sherry McKinnon (mother of his sons, Robbie and Jarrett). He lived with and will also leave behind his mother, Antoinette Murphy; three sisters, Paulette (Greg), Jannette (Bill), Rose (Allan); one brother, Raymond (Ann); eight nieces and nephews; 10 great-nieces and nephews Visitation will be held on Friday, March 3, 2017 from 3 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 4 p.m. all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith St., New Waterford, with Deacon Leo Penny officiating. Cremation will follow with burial in Mount Carmel Cemetery at a later date. A luncheon will take place at the Army, Navy, Airforce, Unit 217, New Waterford, immediately following the funeral service. JEAN DOROTHY HISCOCK (HEFFORD) Born In: SYDNEY Born: June 15th, 1931 Passed in: SYDNEY Passed on: February 25th, 2017 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Aunt, Sister and Friend, Jean Dorothy (Hefford) Hiscock on February 25, 2017 at Harbourstone Enhanced Care. Formerly of Railway Street in Whitney Pier, Jean resided at the Harbourstone Enhanced Care Facility for the past nine months. Mom was 85 years young. Jean was born in Sydney, Cape Breton on June 15, 1931 to the late Eldred Hefford and Maggie (Ritchie) Hefford. Jean was a dedicated member of the Salvation Army Community Church and was very involved with the Home League, League of Mercy, Fundraising activities and loved to volunteer for anything that involved the Church. Jean was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 128, Whitney Pier and served on the Ladies Auxiliary for many years. She was very proud to be a member of the Legion Singers. Jean was a walker, a bowler, a dart player and a line dancer. She loved to camp out and Swim on the Mira. She loved making ceramics and a lot of people have the benefit of owning one or more of her pieces. She also enjoyed playing Scat and usually hosted a friendly Friday night game on a regular basis. Jean was a very sociable woman and made many friends everywhere she went. Jean is survived by her six children, Joan Hiscock Paul , Membertou, Jim Hiscock (Maryann Zauhar-Hiscock) and his children, Frazer Andrews (Cheryl) and their son, Angus, Athabasca AB, Sebastien Hiscock (Megahan), Calgary AB, and Emilie, Okotoks, AB, Wayne (Glenda Boyd- Hiscock) and their children, Wayne Jr., and his daughter, Piper and Lacey Hiscock, all of Balls Creek, Ron Hiscock (Kim), Sydney and his son, Cory, Todd Hiscock (Kerrianne MacKenzie-Hiscock and their daughter, Elizabeth, Sydney, and Brenda Lee Hiscock-MacMullin (John) and her daughter, Keshya (Corey), Calgary AB., and son, Patrick and his children, Noah, NB and Sierra, CFB- Greenwood, Greenwood. Jean is also survived by her sister, Florence Keel-Burton, Harbourstone Enhanced Care Facility (formerly of Whitney Pier) and her brother, Selby ‘Hef’ Hefford, Toronto, Ont.; cousin, Elsie (Dave Wilkie), New Waterford; as well as a large number of nieces, nephews and large circle of friends. She touched the lives of many people and will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Jean became a young widow at the age of 44 with the passing of her husband, James 'Jim' Hiscock from Trinity Bay, Newfoundland. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Gladys Grant, (late Albert ‘Curly’), Lee Lawson, (late Jack Lawson), Anne Dunphy, (late Jim Dunphy), Joyce Rykunyk (late Kazimer Rykunyk) and brothers, Eldred, George, John, Gordon Hefford and Jimmy Ritchie; son-in-law, Dr. Lawrence F. Paul, Membertou (2010) and grandson, Malcolm Hamish MacKenzie Hiscock (2014). She was also predeceased by her very best friend, Millie Joseph, who was like a second mother to us; dear friend, Carrie Thorne and special aunt, Sadie Purdy. Visitation for the late Jean Hiscock will be held on Wednesday, Mar. 1, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street), Whitney Pier. Funeral service to celebrate the life of Jean will take place on Thursday, Mar. 2, 2017 at 11 a.m. in The Salvation Army Sydney Community Church, Inglis St., Sydney, with Captain Corey Vincent officiating. Following the service a reception will be held in the church hall. Interment will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney, at a later date. Memorials in memory of Jean may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Cape Breton or The Salvation Army Community Church.
