Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late William Joseph and Clara Frances (Petrie) Hinchey. Billy is survived by sons, John (Patricia), Billy (Colleen), Troy (Jennifer), AB and Derrick, Ont; daughters, Willena (Wally) Jardine, Joan-Anne (Wayne) Morrison, Clara (Steve) McVarish, Bedford and Veronica (Ian) Jollimore, Halifax; sister, Mary Stella MacNeil, New Waterford and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly. Billy’s career was part owner and also meat cutter at Hinchey’s Supermarket, his passion was being active, which included fly fishing in Margaree and watching many different sports such as baseball, golf and hockey. A good day for Da was spending time at his favorite Tim Hortons in Dominion followed by a walk on the boardwalk and feeding the birds. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Willena (Tighe); brothers, Ambrose, Mike, Pat, John and Peter; sisters, Von, Helen, Theresa and Clara (Joanie) and grandson, Curtis James Hinchey. A funeral service to celebrate Billy’s life will take place on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. in the Parish of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Ave. Burial in Mount Carmel Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the K.O.C. hall, Plummer Ave, all are welcome. We would also like to thank QE11 for their care on 6.2 the Cardiac Ward as well as C.B Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit and John “Blinky” Rose Passed on: February 8th, 2017 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our father John ‘Binky’ Rose who suddenly, but peacefully, passed away on February 8, 2017. Our father was a much loved and respected man in Westmount and beyond. Our father was a military man through and through and began serving his country in 1968. He later joined the Airborne and was a paratrooper who made over 300 jumps. 14 years after that he joined the construction engineers and later 1CEU, where he made his decision to retire from the military and move back ‘home’. Even though he was retired, that didn't keep him still. For the next 20 years he was a park supervisor at Two Rivers Wildlife Park, a job he thoroughly enjoyed. He was also the Vice President and bar chairman at Branch 126, Westmount Legion. For 20 years he was also involved greatly with the Westmount Volunteer Fire department, where he served as their training officer. Our father was an avid hunter, fisher and trapper, the ultimate woodsman. He was the strongest man we've ever know and the best grampy our children could have asked for. He was predeceased by the love of his love, his wife, Maureen and his parents, Vince and Rose. He is survived by his three children, Michelle, Joshua (Sara) and Melanie (Shaun); grandchildren, Sarah, Caleb, Jocelyn (Mike), Owen, Frankie, Molly, Miss Em and his little buddy, James (Jam), also great-grandson, Jaxen. He is also survived by sisters, Sharon (Mitch), Ann (Mike) and nieces and nephew, Stacy, Daniel and Amanda. Our father will be waked from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, February 14 at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Annie Nannette Oleson Passed on: October 20th, 1928 Born and raised in Nyanza / Wagmatcook Cape Breton, Nova Scotia on October 20th, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Julia (Paul) Francis, both of Nyanza. She retired to her birth place of Wagmatcook in 1997. Annie was also a member of the Peace Corps, she supported many causes including the Walk for Hunger and the Walked against domestic Violence and volunteered her time to many good just and kind hearted causes. She was a giver to many charities and an advocate of human rights. She had a very special love for children who returned this love many years after they had grown up. She had a special heart and love for people and never turned anyone (in need) away. Annie (Nannette) Oleson walked the walk of goodness, kindness and love throughout her entire life. To the world you are a mother but to the family you are the world. She is survived by her children, Joanne Dunn, John Oleson, Jr., William (Tommy) Oleson, Julia Duling, Janie Oleson and Theresa Podolske, all of Boston, MA., Joseph Oleson and William (Tommy) Oleson, residing in Wagmatcook. She is also survived by brothers, Francis Joe Francis, Edward Francis of Wagmatcook First Nation Indian Reserve and Annie Joe of Newburyport, MA. and by 46 grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by daughters, Wanda and Jeanne Oleson; sisters, Katy Googoo, Theresa Bernard and Annie Isabell Paul; brother, Stephen Francis. Children being an extremely important part of her life, after raising 9 children of her own, she went to college in Boston and received her teacher certification going on to become head teacher and director of daycare at the Boston Indian Council. Without you mom there would be no us. We love you and miss you Mama and we will all be together someday, until then we will miss you and we love you and will keep you in our hearts and prayers until that day. We love you with all our heart Mama, you are forever our hero. Visitation at 12 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, February 15th, 2017 at St. Michael Church, Baddeck, NS, funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. with Fr. Paul Abbas officiating. April Lee Pelletier Passed in: Sydney, Nova Scotia Passed on: February 9th, 2017 It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, niece and friend April Pelletier, on February 9, 2017, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Halifax (1979), she is the daughter of Colleen Connors and Ken (Leisa) Pelletier. April had a smile that could light up a room. She always put her family first. No matter what was going on she was always there to support her family and friends. She was proudly employed as a Food Safety Team Leader at Classic Fine Foods. Besides her parents she will be lovingly missed by her husband, Ryan Dickie; children, Dustin Pelletier, Taylor and Emmett Dickie, (all at home); brother, Bobby (Mallory) and sister, Jenn Pelletier; grandmother, Jeanette Connors; grandfather, Joe Pelletier; mother and father-in-law, Liz and Jimi Dickie; brother-in-law, Mark (Sheena) Dickie. She is also survived by three nieces, Maizy Pelletier, Rhyan Hardy and Aehdyn Dickie; several aunts, uncles and cousins; special friends, Melissa Stevenson and Lindsay Smith. April is predeceased by her grandfather, Mike Connors and grandmother, Doreen Pelletier. In leiu of flowers, donations in April’s memory can be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Center, or the Palliative Care Unit. Visitation for April will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 from 7-9 p.m. in the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home Chapel, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, N.S.
