MacDonald - 85 yrs Edna (Aucoin) Boudreau Born In: New Waterford, Nova Scotia Born: December 24th, 1927 Passed in: Sydney, Nova Scotia Passed on: February 7th, 2017 We, the family of Mary Edna Boudreau, announce her peaceful passing on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, in the palliative care unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her loving family. Born December 24, 1927, in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Leo and Sophie (Aucoin) Aucoin. Edna was an active member of St. Augustine’s Church, singing in the choir and was thrilled to receive her 40 year CWL pin. She was an exceptional mother who took great pride in her children and families. The nuns always said ‘the Boudreau children got their brown eyes from Edna’s cinnamon rolls.’ Mom took the advanced sewing course at Singer’s and was always amazed at her finished projects. She made the best aprons in Cape Breton. She also loved to knit and crochet and much of her work was on display in her home. Edna is survived by her daughters, Marie, Sydney, Joanne (Henry) Duffett, Halifax, Dianne (Norman) Wrathall, Sydney and Annette (Jerry) MacLean, Sydney; sons, Bernie (Nancy), Kentville and David, Sydney; brothers, Albert, Truro, Cyril, Pembroke, Ont., George, Victoria, B. C. and David (Pearl), Oshawa, Ont.; eight grandchildren, Wayne (Yolanda) Wrathall, Sydney River, Corey (Laura) Wrathall, Sydney River, Jason (Ashley) Duffett, Halifax, Jennifer Duffett, Halifax, Matthew (Kristina) Boudreau, North Kentville, Samantha Boudreau, Kentville, Gary Boudreau, Sydney and Janet (Chris) Tell, Lloydminster, Alta.; six great-grandchildren, Austin, Kennedy, Carter, Riley, Zachary and Sophie; sister-in-law, Rita O’Hanley; several nieces and nephews. Edna was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Joseph; only sister, Joan McDaniel; brothers, Russell, Hugh, Eddie and Peter (in infancy); great-grandson, Clark. Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Sunday, February 12 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at St. Theresa’s Church on Monday, February 13 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Raymond ‘Cory’ Keigan With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our son, brother, grandson, uncle and nephew, Cory Keigan on Tuesday, February 7, 2017. Cory was born December 4, 1983, in North Sydney. He grew up in the country loving the outdoors. Cory was his happiest working in the woods and on the high seas. It was in his blood from a very young age. Cory was very capable at whatever he put his mind to and gave a helping hand to whoever was in need. He is survived by his mother, Evelyn MacDermid (David Reeves), Sydney; father, Carl Keigan, Wreck Cove; girlfriend, Tara MacKinnon and his princess, Bella, Sydney; brothers, Aaron (Sarah Morrison), N.B. and Kayle (Melissa Bates), Sydney; nephew, Carter; stepbrother, Peter Reeves, B.C.; stepsister, Michele Reeves (Jesse Denton), Sydney; maternal grandmother, Sarah MacRae (Sandy), North River; maternal grandfather, Clarence MacDermid (Wanda), Sydney; paternal grandmother, Mae Keigan, Wreck Cove; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Cory was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, John Keigan; uncles, Kenneth, Allan, Claude Keigan and Dean MacDermid and aunt, Heather Keigan. Visitation will take place at North River Presbyterian Church on Saturday from 12-1 p.m., followed by a service at 1 p.m., with Rev. Corrie Stewart officiating. Rose Teresa Landry Passed on: February 5th, 2017 It is with great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Rose Teresa Landry, age 83, a long-time resident of Frenchvale, on Sunday, February 5th, 2017 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. In 1978 Teresa was welcomed into Donald and Margaret (Peggy) Rankins Family and spent many happy years at Donmar Farms. Teresa enjoyed overseeing the daily operations of the farm and her greatest joy was playing with her dog, Terry. She loved all animals and enjoyed watching the deer and horses in the fields. Her talent was knitting and crocheting. She took great pride in knitting hats, mitts, scarves and afghans for friends and family. In recent years, you could find her having a tea and working on her newest puzzle. Teresa always looked forward to and appreciated the compassionate care she received from County Homemakers. Teresa was a kind and caring person who will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Teresa was predeceased by Donald and Peggy Rankin, as well as her long-time friend, Jerome Nadeau. There will be no visitation and cremation has taken place. A mass in Teresa’s honor will take place Monday, February 13th, 7 p.m. at Saint Mary’s Parish Frenchvale. Evangeline Pasher Born In: Dominion, Nova Scotia, Canada Born: April 25th, 1938 Passed in: Burlington, Ontario, Canada Passed on: February 7th, 2017 PASHER, Evangeline Etheltine (Corbett) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Wellington Park Care Centre in Burlington, Ontario at the age of 78. Vange was predeceased by her husband, Dave Pasher in 2005, and her infant son, Robert, in 1967. Vange was born in Dominion, Cape Breton, daughter of Pius Corbett and Elizabeth Abigail MacKay. She married Dave in 1956 and after having 8 children, they embarked on the big move to Toronto. Vange enjoyed being part of the community, always out chatting with neighbours, no matter where she lived. Vange was an avid collector of pop tabs for wheelchairs, and prided herself in being able to donate the tabs in exchange for wheelchairs for her local school children. She loved family and often made the trek back to Cape Breton to see her sisters and brothers and cousins. Vange was also predeceased by siblings Lillian Usher (2012), Joyce Clarke (2011), Jimmy Corbett (1989), Frances Iline who died as an infant (1935), Robert Corbett (2004), Marion Braganza (2016), and Kenneth who also died as an infant (1955). She will be sadly missed by surviving siblings Florence Peach, Geraldine (Joe) Williams, Valerie (Jim) Calhoun, Muriel Corbett, Tommy Corbett, Collette (Dave Turner) Parsons, Greg (Mary Louise) Corbett, Frances Corbett, and Loretta (Kenny) Munroe. Also grieving are children Alice Pasher, George (Laurie) Pasher, Cathy (Mike) Valenta, Pius Joseph Pasher, John (Darlene) Pasher, and Tom (Cheryl) Pasher, 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Vange will be cremated and her ashes will be brought home to Cape Breton for an August burial in Gabarus, where she will rest with her husband and infant son. Donald MacDonald Born In: Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed in: East Windsor, Connecticut, United States Donald A. MacDonald, 85, of Broad Brook, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, February 7, 2017. He was born August 11, 1931 in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia to the late William and Evelyn (Davis) MacDonald. He retired from American Airlines. Don was a very hardworking husband and father always putting his family first. He enjoyed going to the movies and attended them weekly sometimes joined by his grandson. He was passionate about any and all kinds of Ice Hockey and the Boston Red Sox. Cherished his travels with family to his homeland of Glace Bay, Nova Scotia or visiting relatives in Florida. He was a past community member of the Knights of Columbus and the Broad Brook Fire Department, he also loved listening to all types of music. He is survived by his son, Darryl and wife Cheryl and their daughter Kimberly; his daughters, Colleen and her husband Michael and their children, Ashley and Michael, Lori and her husband Jeff and their sons Jeffrey and Justin and Jennifer and her husband Chris and their daughter, Lindsey; and many nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his wife Winnie in 2011. The Family would like to thank Lesa Walter and his son in law Chris for their tireless love and devotion to his daily care towards the end of his life.
