Born in New Waterford on December 2, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Alexander (Sandy) and Marie Louise (Ivy) Poirier. Pauline was a member of St. Leonard’s Parish Church. She enjoyed going for drives, going to the casino; and attending all the sporting events with her grandchildren whom were the joy of her life. Pauline is survived by her husband, Lawrence of 56 years; son, Darrell, New Waterford; daughter, Darlene (Trevor MacLeod) MacDougall, Scotchtown; grandchildren, Jeremy Fraser, Kelsey –Lynn Hogan, New Waterford; brothers, Angie, Johnnie, James ‘Jimmy’ (Margie), all of New Waterford. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Pauline was predeceased by sisters, Mary Mathilda Desmond, Mary Louise Harris, Mary and Marie in infancy; brothers, Benny, Joe, Henry, and Jimmy in infancy. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday March 8, 2017 at 10 a.m. in St. Leonard’s Parish, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Internment will be held in Mount Carmel Cemetery. EDNA LEFORT Passed on: March 1st, 2017 Age 93 of Foyer Père Fiset Guest Home, Cheticamp passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at the Guest Home. Edna was born in Waltham, Mass. to the late Lazare Boudreau and Esther (Aucoin) Boudreau. She was a devoted wife and mother and a warm-hearted sister to her 12 siblings, always welcoming family and friends into her home. She was a stay at home mom for her 5 children. She assisted with the care and nurturing of neighbours’ elderly parents which evolved into a working career as a caregiver at Foyer Père Fiset, a place that she volunteered regularly upon retirement and eventually called her home. Edna was a devout catholic as a member of la “Paroisse St.-Pierre, a member of les “Dames de Ste.-Anne” and le “Club des Retraités”. As a dedicated wife of the community fire chief, she volunteered as an emergency response call coordinator before the era of 911. Edna was a kind and generous soul with her co-residents at the Foyer, always showing empathy to one and all. She will be remembered fondly for her homemade beans, homemade buns, “cake au rapage” and delicious desserts. Edna was predeceased by her husband, Luc LeFort; brothers, Arthur, Emanuel, Paul Patrick, Gaston; sisters, Sr. Marie Adèle, Alice, Eveline, Sr. Marguerite Alma. She is survived by her sons, Réné (Marie), Ernest (Sandra) both of Cheticamp, David (Stephen),Ottawa; daughters, Bernice (Roger) Romard, St. Joseph du Moine, Marthe LeFort (Linus Aucoin), Cheticamp; brothers, Ernest Boudreau (Anna Smith) and Louis Levis (Réjeanne) Boudreau; sisters, Marie-Lorraine Fougère (Gordon Poirier), Marie-Hélène (André) Poirier; sister-in-law, Lucille Boudreau; grandchildren, Marc (Noella) LeFort, Erika LeFort; great-grandchildren, Steeve, Eryn; many nieces and nephews. RODERICK MURDOCK MCKINNON Born In: SYDNEY, Nova Scotia Born: July 24th, 1946 Passed in: Windsor, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed on: February 17th, 2017 It is with great sadness that we say goodbye for now to Roderick Murdock McKinnon. Born July 24, 1946 to Murdock and Wanda (Kokoska) McKinnon in Sydney. Roddie passed away February 28, 2017 surrounded by love in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Roddie will be missed and remembered by many. He is survived by his loving spouse, Joan MacNeil; cherished daughter, Natalie (Scott) Shearer; his grandchildren who were the light of his life, Ava, Will and Jack (or as Papa called them: ‘Ava Misbehava’, ‘Will the Thrill’ and ‘The Jackster’); step children, Jennifer Burton (Daniel), Jolene (Adam) Kehoe, Morgan Burton and Mac Burton; step grandchildren, Victoria, Alexis, Benjamin and Georgia. Also left to mourn Roddie are brothers, Jimmy, Sydney, Johnny, Port Hawkesbury, Joey (Roxanne), Sackville, N.B.; sister, Dorothy (Hughie) MacKinnon, Coxheath; aunt, Caddy Donovan; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Louise McKinnon. Growing up in Cape Breton he had great friends that he enjoyed playing softball with, swimming, skating at the Louisa, and in later years dances, shooting pool, “Doing the drag” on Charlotte Street, and jumping train cars. He was known by his buddies then and now as a faithful friend. Roddie graduated from St. FX University in 1969 with an education degree and in later years from Saint Mary’s University with his Masters in Education. He was a true scholar who loved a good debate. He joined the faculty at Windsor Regional High School in 1969. Roddie enjoyed teaching history and sociology while walking the classroom aisles or with his feet on his desk. He was one of the original members of the faculties “Library Club” where he built lifelong friendships including his best friend, Dominic Henry. Roddie was an avid sports fan but most notably a New England Patriots fan. In October he enjoyed watching his team at Foxborough Stadium with Natalie. Football Sundays were spent at home with Joan by the woodstove with his Proline in hand. Frank was born in Inverness, NS, on February 24, 1954 to the late Elmer and Helen (Bonnar) Reynolds. He spent much of his life working in staffing and payroll at St. Rita's and then the Cape Breton Regional Hospital and was an active union member of CUPE Local #2431. He retired in 2011. His generous and notoriously stubborn spirit will be deeply missed by friends and family. Frank is survived by his children Ardelle (Mike) and Kyle; grandchildren Zander, Jax, Zadie, Shepard, and Felix; sister Judy; brother Bill (Estelle); and much loved nieces and nephew. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother John Leslie. Frank was fortunate to spend his last days in the care of the Palliative Care unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. DIANE CAROL WHITE Passed in: GLACE BAY Passed on: March 1st, 2017 It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of Diane Carol White, on March 1, 2017 at Harbourstone Enhanced Care Center. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Hadley and Anna (Tutty) Penny. Diane was a very loving and caring person; who was always busy trying to help others as best she could. She also dedicated her life to taking care of her family, whom she loved dearly. Diane is survived by her children, Edward, Winston, Pearl, Edna and Scott; many grandchildren especially, John Edward Moore; siblings, Winston, Beverley and Elaine; also numerous nieces and nephews, especially, Miranda, Patty and R.J.
