Born in North Sydney she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Florence (Hunt) Quirk. She was a cherished member and longtime volunteer of the CWL St. Bernadette’s Parish, Ballycliffe Nursing Home, the Red Cross Blood Donor Clinics and St. Vincent’s Kitchen. Madeleine is survived by two sons, Robert (Gloria) Rouleau, North Sydney and Michael (Arlene) Rouleau; her grandchildren, Ryan and Kerri (Craig) Wilcox and a great grandchild, Ruby. Madeleine will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Roger Rouleau; her sisters, Eva, Margaret, Josephine, Gladys, Sue, Agnes, Florence and brothers, Bill, George, Michael, Gervais and Alex Quirk. Visitation for Madeleine will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Joseph Church, North Sydney with Rev. J.J. MacDonald officiating. Charlotte White Passed on: March 13th, 2017 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend, Charlotte White, age 88, who passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with her family by her side. Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late Jerimiah and Elizabeth (Donovan) Whitty. Family was the most important part of Charlotte’s life. She enjoyed the time she spent with her children and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Charlotte is survived by her four sons, Jerry White, Leo White (Sheri McDonald), Michael (Nikki) White all of North Sydney and John (Tanya) White of Sydney Mines; her two daughters, Florence (Peter) MacDonald, Sydney Mines and Mary (Joe) Skinner of North Sydney; her 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Patrick; her infant sons, John and Simon; her three daughters, Kay, Adele, Veronica; two brothers, Lawrence and Steve and her four sisters, Veronica, Cecilia, Alena and Edith. The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Sampson, Dr. Abboud and the staff of 4E An Cala unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for the loving care given to Charlotte over the past number of days. Visitation will be 9:30 to 10 a.m. Thursday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home chapel, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney, followed by a funeral service with Rev. J.J. MacDonald officiating. Cornelia Maria (Mels) LeBlanc Passed on: March 12th, 2017 It is with deep sadness that our family wishes to announce the passing of our loving mother, Corry LeBlanc on March 12, 2017 at the Harbourstone Enhanced Care at the age of 95. Besides her parents, Michael and Cornelia Mels, she was predeceased by her husband, Alex in 1962. She was a wonderful and loving mother to, Nick (Linda) and Kenny (Peggy); grandmother of, Mark (Angela), Cory (Angie), Chandelle (Joey), Alex (Shelly), Freda (Nathan) and Maggie and her six precious great grandchildren, Samantha, Payton, Logan, Allora, Easton and Penny. Corry was predeceased by her immediate family here and in Holland and most of her friends. She also had a special friendship with Charlie Wall and his family for many years. By her request, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A celebration of life will be held 2 p.m. Friday, March 17, 2017 at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. Reception to follow. Burial to take place at a later date in St. Theresa’s Cemetery, Sydney. A special thanks to the kind and caring staff at Irish Cove, Kimberley Building, the doctors and nurses that were involved with her care.
