JACKSON We regret to announce the peaceful passing of Jeanette Jackson of West Lake Ainslie at the Inverness Consolidated Hospital on March 9th, 2017. Jeanette was the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Struthers, Glace Bay; wife of Douglas; sister to James (Jean), Halifax, Ruth Comer (Wayne) Glace Bay, and Pearl Quigg (late Jim), Ottawa; and sister-in-law to Irene Struthers (late George), Halifax. Jeanette, at an early age, went off to Ottawa and began working with the federal government where she met her husband Doug. After several years they moved to Ingonish where Jeanette worked at the Cape Breton National Highlands Park and Doug in the commercial fishery. Jeanette worked at the park until her retirement. Jeanette took great pride in the many years she volunteered with the Buchanan Memorial Hospital board. To know Jeanette is to know her big laugh. When Jeanette laughed everyone heard it. I remember one time we attended a Tis the Season Dinner Theatre at the Membertou Trade and Convention Centre and during Maynard and Bette's show, Jeanette was laughing so loud Bette stopped the show to figure out who she was and even offered to pay for her to attend all their shows as her laugh was so contagious. In addition for her love of local shows she and Doug enjoyed attending the horse races in Inverness. They made many friends and shared many laughs while sitting in the stands and betting on the races. Your memory is our keepsake/With which we'll never part/God has you in his keeping/We have you in our hearts. Rest eternal grant unto her O Lord, and may light perpetual shine upon her.
