"The Sydney Post-Record," Monday, 25 Oct 1937, page 2, NSARM 1925, Esteemed Polish Woman Passes The oldest living member of the Polish colony of Sydney, Mrs. Agatha Planeta, 67, is dead at her home in Whitney Pier today. Her passing occurred at the City Hospital over the week-end and followed a general illness. Coming to Sydney shortly after the early days of the boom with her husband the late Samuel Planeta, she was well known throughout the Pier district and was prominent in the life of the Polish colony. To a host of friends, neighbors, and acquaintances her demise is occasioning widespread and profound regret. Her husband predeceased her about five years ago having been fatally injured in an accident at the steel plant. Surviving are three sons, Peter and Joseph in Sydney; Adolph with the American Flying Corps in the southern States who is expected home for the obsequies; three daughters, Mrs. Michael Ratushny, Sydney; Mrs. Stanley Melynk, Glace Bay; Mrs Helen Slomka, Hamilton, Ontario.
