Ochiltree Macdonald Was Granddaughter of Noted Clerics There passed away at her residence, 10 Young Avenue, on Thursday, after a period of illness, Eva Agnes, wife of C. Ochiltree Macdonald, in her sixty-fifth year. Mrs. Macdonald was a granddaughter of the late Rev. William Young Porter, who was educated at Quincy College, Oxford, England, and was ordained in 1840, by the Bishop of Nova Scotia, and died while crossing the ice, from Sydney to Sydney Mines in February 1859. A memorial window has been erected in one of the churches of the Sydney coal fields to the memory of this reverend pioneer of the Anglican Church who carried religion, education and culture into the, then, wilderness inhibited by the founders of Nova Scotia. Robert Kerr Porter, knighted by Gustavus, fourth, of Sweden, and by the British Prince Regent. Mrs. Macdonald's mother, Anne Porter married Mr. William Bowen, of Sydney, a member of the widely known family of British Empire Loyalists of that name who contributed more than one member to the King's Executive Council of Cape Breton before that island was united to Nova Scotia, and who operated the Sydney minesin such a manner that the conduct of those operations is favorably mentioned in the State Papers of Great Britain. Mrs. Macdonald is survived, besides her husband by four daughters, the eldest, Mrs. Marion Thomson, residing in New York; Alice, wife of Commander Heap, resident in England; Miss Hilda, resident in London, England, and Ena, wife of R.L. MacIntyre, of Woodpiece, Astley-England, and Westmount, Montreal. Mr. MacIntyre, is a son of Mr. R. MacIntyre, formerly a member of the government of India.
