Cape Breton Deaths September 15, 2008 Monday Margaret Harrietha 85, Mill Creek/Northside Guest Home - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful sister, aunt and godmother. Margaret Harrietha 'Marg' passed away Sept. 12, 2008, at the Northside General Hospital. Marg spent most of her life working at Moirs in Halifax and moved home when she retired. Marg was avid card and dart player and gave many hours to Point Aconi Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of St. Joseph's parish, Bras d'Or. Marg was the daughter of the late Joe and Molly (Waugh) Harrietha. She will be sadly missed by her brother and sister-in-law, Mick and Nettie Harrietha; sisters-in-law, Vange Harrietha, Gonie Harrietha and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Dan, Jack and Andy (Rejean), sisters, Josie (Joe) O'Shea, Irene (Walter) Rideout, Patricia (Tommy) Carey and Velma (Danny) Bona. A special thank-you to the staff and volunteers at the Northside Guest Home for their years of care. There will be no visitation. Born in Margaree, she was the daughter of the late George and Olive (Burton) Crowdis Shaw. Gwen was educated in Margaree and Baddeck, later attending Dalhousie University. She was a dedicated physiotherapist retiring from the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in 2007 after 41 years of service. She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph; son, Bradley (Stacey) children, Kaitlyn, Christena, and Shelbie; daughter, Jody (Mark) Poirier; stepdaughters, Cheryl (Peter) Smith children, Cameron and Heather, Ottawa, Sandra Dawson, Sydney; stepson, Brian Guillena children, Carmen and Andrew, South Carolina. She is also survived by brothers, Glen (Valerie), Sydney, and George, Halifax; mother-in-law, Anne Guillena, Sydney. She was predeceased by her father, George Crowdis, Louisbourg\Margaree, and mother, Olive Crowdis Shaw, Louisbourg\Margaree, father-in-law, Joseph Guillena Sr., Sydney. Cremation has taken place. Born in Glace Bay, the youngest daughter of the late George and Maude (MacDonald) Munroe. Alice was a member of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church. She was a lifetime member and volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Association and received a number of awards including the Certificate of Merit 2004. She was also a lifetime member of LOBA lodge and was active for many years with the Kinettes. Alice loved to play cards and will be missed by her Club group of 50+ years. She is survived by her husband Angus (Guy) MacQueen; her daughter, Alexis MacQueen-MacDonald (Jim); and son, George (Tasha). She will be missed by her four grandchildren, Alanna MacQueen Bresson (Michael), Curtis MacQueen, Katherine and Alison MacDonald. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Ellie, Owen and Chase Bresson. She is also survived by her sister, Georgina Milley; half sister, Catherine (Art) Peach; and half brother, Arthur Smith (Glayds). She is survived by her sister-in-law, Tena Simmons (Jimmie); brothers-in-law, Charlie MacQueen (Pat), Cecil MacQueen (Starla), Keith MacQueen (Gail) and also many nieces and nephews. Alice was predeceased by half brothers, Hector (Florence) MacMillan and John MacDonald and half sisters, Margaret (Micky) Campbell and Mary (Bob) Bleakney. He is survived by his mother, Betty, Calgary; his father, Wayne (Jo-Anne MacIntosh), Sambro Head, N.S.; his grandmother, Alice Evans; his aunts and uncles, Bruce, Dave, Patti and Allan, Kenny and Betty, Kim and the late Paul Evans; and cousins, Clayton, Haylee, Camden, Tammy, Jason, Mitchell, Michelle and Jason. He was predeceased by his grandmother, Margaret Tainsh, grandfather, Jack Evans and uncle, Paul Evans. Steve was living his dream spendig a year travelling in Australia. He loved life, was outgoing and made friends wherever he went. He was a huge Flames fan and his home was 'street hockey central.' He especially loved and leaves behind many many close friends from his days at William Aberhart High School where he graduated in 2002, and at Mount Royal College where he obtained a bachelors degree in International Business Studies and Supply Chain Management in 2007.
