Blaise joined the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War and served on the minesweeper Outarde out of Esquimalt, B.C. He took part in the joint Canadian-American operation to retake occupied territories in the Aleutian Islands. After the war, he returned to Antigonish, entering St. Francis Xavier University and later became Chief of Police for Mulgrave. He then joined the CNR police force, serving in North Sydney, Mulgrave, then returning to North Sydney. In 1960 he left the CNR for employment as sales manager for The Casket Printing and Publishing Company in Antigonish, where he worked until retirement.
