Cape Breton Deaths September 30, 2008 Tuesday Harold 'Howie' MacLeod 97, Glace Bay - It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of Harold 'Howie' MacLeod, 97, on Sept. 27, 2008, at the Cove Guest Home. Born in Glace Bay he was the son of Roderick and Dorothy (Grant) MacLeod. Harold was employed at S&L Railway as an engineer. He was a member of Knox United Church and Branch 12 Royal Canadian Legion, Sydney. Harold also served overseas in Malta. Harold is survived by daughter, Joan Morrison; and two sons, Harold William, Sydney, and Fred Roderick, Vancouver, B.C. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren Harold was predeceased by his first wife, Victoria MacLeod and his second wife, Jenie Hodder. Harold was also predeceased by his brothers and sisters. Visitation for the late Harold MacLeod will take place Tuesday, Sept. 30 from 7-9 p.m. at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay, 849-7520. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 1 in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. with Nancy Whitney officiating. Interment to follow at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Grand Lake Road. Born in Sydney Mines on July 24, 1954, she was the eldest daughter of Wallace and Dorothy (Drover) Morgan. Monica was a member of Immaculate Conception parish, Sydney Mines, and a former member of the Catholic Women's League. She loved to get together with family and enjoyed a good game of bingo. She is survived by her loving husband, Greg; sons, Greg (Linelle), Sydney Mines, Kevin (Danielle), Dieppe, N.B.; sisters, Juanita (Gerry Carr), Guleph, Ont., and Louise, Sydney Mines; brother, Alfred 'Al' (Brent), Lantz, N.S. She was a wonderful nanna to grandchildren, Gabrielle, Jacob and Dominic. She held a special place in her heart for life long friend, Lawson and her cousin, Pat. She was predeceased by Maryann (Campbell) Greene, Ellis Greene and Peter Campbell. Visitation will be held today from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Francis Funeral Home. Douglas Howard MacLellan 36, Bay St. Lawrence - We are sorry to announce the passing of one of the kindest, most generous men that God ever put upon the earth, Douglas Howard MacLellan of Bay St. Lawrence. He always had a smile and a helping hand for anyone. He was a very loving father and devoted husband, a wonderful son, brother, uncle and friend. He was taken far too soon and will be forever loved and missed. Dougie passed away in his sleep at home on Friday, Sept. 26, 2008. He was a member of St. Margaret's parish, was a former member of the Bay St. Lawrence Volunteer Fire Department and other local volunteer organizations. Dougie was employed as a lobster and crab fisherman. He is survived by his father, Robert; stepmother, Theresa Buchanan; his mother, Twila MacNeil; stepfather, Leonard Forrest; his wife, Veronica; daughter, Miranda Leigh MacLellan. Also surviving are his sister, Theresa MacLellan (Daniel Williams); brothers, Donald MacNeil (Denise), Cole MacLellan (Corrine MacKinnon); nephew, Donnie MacNeil; niece, Marley MacNeil; nephews, Carter MacLellan, Chase MacLellan, and his special nephew and godson, Cameron Cole MacLellan; as well as his mother and father-in-law, Allan and Donna Bonnar. He was predeceased by his brother, Robbie MacLellan. Visitation will be held at the residence of his father Robert MacLellan in Bay St. Lawrence after 4 p.m. Wednesday. Mass will be celebrated Friday at 1 p.m. from St. Margaret's Parish Church, St. Margaret's Village, Rev. Dan MacDonald officiating. Born in Sydney, Jack was the son of the late Lawrence and Mary (MacDonald) Robertson. Before retiring, he was a dedicated employee of Sydney Steel for 30 years. Jack was also a member of East Bay Legion Branch 151. He will always be fondly remembered for his lively sense of humour and his devotion to family and friends. Besides his parents, Jack was predeceased by his sister, Rosemary and his stepmother, Jacqueline. Jack will be sadly missed by his wife, Maureen (MacPhee); as well his daughter, Erin; and son, Adam. Surviving family members include sisters, Trudy Newcombe, Massachusetts, and Joan (Klaus) Krombholz, Vancouver; brothers, Donnie (Sandra), Lawrence (Jackie), Howie Center, Terance (Lettie), Sydney, Allan (Margaret), Sydney River, Phonse (Doreen), Ottawa; and brother-in-law, Gerry Smith, Howie Center.
