Ratushny - The death of Mrs. Katherine Ratushny, 70, widow of the late Michael Ratushny, occurred late Sunday night in St. Rita Hospital after a long illness. A daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Planetta, she was born in Poland and came to Sydney with her parents at an early age. She and her husband, who previously operated a small store at Ashby Corner, moved to Sydney River 35 yeras ago and established "Mike's Dairy" in that community. She had continued to operate the business after her husband's death, and was known to her neighbors and customers as "Mrs. Mic." She was a member of St. Mary's Church at Whitney Pier, and of Our Lady of Fatima Parish Sydney River. Mrs. Ratushny is survived by one son, Edmund, of the Sydney Fire Department, and four grandchildren; three brothers, Adolph Planetta, California, USA; Peter and Joseph, in Sydney; one sister, (Agnes) Mrs. Joe Michalik, Glace Bay, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three infant sons, and by two sisters, Mrs. Veronica Wludyka and (Helen) Mrs. John Slomka. The body rests at T.W. Curry's Parkview Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 2 pm Wednesday in St. Mary's Church, Wesley Street, and interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery. Kevin -- http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~podgursky/
