Elaine Sawlor's book Beyond the Fog brings to life the stories of the 81 families whose properties were developed into the national historic site that is today the Fortress of Louisbourg. Through hundreds of photographs and dozens of family stories, the book documents the history of Fort Louisbourg, West Louisbourg, Kennington Cove and Deep Cove. This well-researched, 236-page book offers a unique look at the histories of modern-day Louisbourg's founding families after the 1758 siege.
