Cape Breton Deaths December 13, 2008 Saturday Eileen M. Henderson 77, Sydney - Eileen M. Henderson, 77 of Kings Road, passed away Wednesday, Dec.10, 2008 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late John and Catherine (Vassallo) Kenney. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima parish, Sydney River. Eileen was educated in Cape Breton and Montreal. She was employed in the teaching profession for many years at Sydney Academy as a French teacher and in administration, retiring in 1990. Eileen will be remembered for her very generous personality. She is survived by sisters, Jean (Joe) Bernier and Mrs. Chris Crouse, both of Sydney. She was predeceased by a sister, Catherine 'Kitty' and by several brothers. There will be no visitation for the late Eileen Henderson. A funeral service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the Sydney Academy Fund. Born on December 23, 1944 in New Waterford, Albert was the son of the late Erminio and Rita (Durando) Basso of Italy. He was a member of Calvin United Church, New Waterford. Albert retired from Devco after 24 years of service. He was a member of The Army/Navy/Airforce, New Waterford, where he greatly enjoyed playing tarabish. Albert also enjoyed the outdoors either fishing or hunting. He will be remembered as a quiet man who deeply loved his family. Although Albert was young, he cherished the old Italian customs. He is survived by his wife, Jean (MacDonald) Basso; three sons, Paul Douglas (Hermine) and grandson, Jeremy Charles of Boston; Brian Keith (Lynn) and grandson, Landon Thomas Adam of Halifax; Steven Andrew (Barb), granddaughter, Samantha Jean and grandson, Thomas Andrew in P.E.I. Albert is also survived by two brothers, Eugene and Gordon. He was predeceased by one sister, Eva and one brother, Reno. Visitation will be held today (Saturday), December 13, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. Albert will be taken to Calvin United Church at noon time on Sunday, where a funeral service officiated by Rev. Duncan Roach will take place at 2 p.m., followed by interment in Union Grove Cemetery. Born in Sydney, Terrance was the son of the late Lawrence and Mary (MacDonald) Robertson. After many years of service, Terrance retired from Sydney Steel. Terrance owned and operated a popular D.J. business for over 40 years, up to the time of his death. Terrance will be sadly missed by his wife, Lettie; his son, Terry Jr. (Lisa); his surviving family members include sisters, Trudy Newcombe, Massachusetts, Joan (Klaus) Krombholz, Vancouver; brothers, Donnie (Sandra), twin brother, Lawrence (Jackie), Howie Centre, Allan (Marg), Sydney River, Phonse (Doreen), Ottawa; brother-in-law, Gerry Smith and sister-in-law, Maureen Robertson, Howie Centre. Terrance is also survived by his paternal aunt, Rita Windsor and former wife, Joanne Robertson. He will also be missed by his feline and canine friends, Riley and Grady. Born in New Waterford, he was the son of Archie and Lillian (Kearney) MacMaster. Gerald was employed with Indalex Aluminum Company for 15 years in Brampton. He was a member of St. Josephs Church, New Victoria. Besides his parents, Gerald is survived by his wife, Corry (Gillis) MacMaster; two daughters, Heather and Stephanie and two sons, Gregory and Zachary. Also surviving are three brothers, Robert, Alexander, Kevin; one sister, Lorraine and Maternal Grandmother Muriel Kearney. There will be no visitation , cremation will take place under the direction of the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford. Jeffrey was the beloved son of Jennifer and Bill; big brother to Kristen and Justin. He will also be sadly missed by grandparents, Gerald and Dolores Pellerin of Main-A-Dieu, Cape Breton; Cecelia O'Quinn, South Branch, NL; Vincent O'Quinn (Dale), Port Aux Basque, NS; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends across Canada. Jeffrey has spent the last five years as a member of the RCMP Stetson & Spurs. He was an employee of the Bedford/Sackville Walmart for the past two years. He was a graduate of Lockview High School in 2008. Jeffrey was planning a career with the RCMP once he reached the age of maturity. Jeffrey leaves us as one of the most avid Toronto Maple Leaf fans. Born in Louisbourg, Sadie was the daughter of the late John and Stella (Dixon) MacMullin. Sadie was a lifetime resident of Louisbourg and Stella Maris parish. She was an active member of the CWL for 40 years. Sadie was employed at National Sea Products and retired from the Fortress Louisbourg in 1983. She loved to bake, garden, sew and knit. Some of her travels took her to California, Calgary, and Ontario. Sadie is survived by seven children, Joan (John), Joe (Racheal), Catherine, Eddy (Pearl), Eileen (Terry), Laura (Walter), Audrey (Roy); sisters, Sr. Mary Roderick, Theresa, Betty and Joan; brothers, George, Gregory, Ralph and Michael, as well as 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Bert; sister, Margaret; brothers, Pat, Roderick, John, Peter, Daniel and her grandson Joseph Jr. 'Sam'.
