Cape Breton Deaths August 01, 2008 Friday Barbara Elizabeth (Kane) Barrett MacDonald 72, Whitney Pier - It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of Barbara MacDonald, which occurred on Wednesday July 30, 2008 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Charlottetown, P.E.I., she was the daughter of the late Jack "Hurricane" and Alice Kane. She was employed as a medical secretary with the military. In earlier years, she was an avid hockey mom and loved to curl. Barb is survived by her husband, Steve MacDonald; her children, Dawn Pynn, Whitney Pier, Kathy Barrett, Cold Lake, Alberta, Michael (Susie) Barrett, Louisdale; her sister, Aileen (Robert) Bechard, Calgary, Alberta; brothers, Gerry Kane, New Brunswick, John "Jack" (Marilyn) Kane, Charlottetown, P.E.I. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren, Andrea, Rebecca, Tyler, Natalie, Alicia, Leanne, Laura, Deanna, Raymond, her six great grandchildren, Breagh, Victoria, Matthew, Emily, Alexandra and Sydney; the father of her children, Donnie Barrett and her former mother-in-law, Mrs. Mary Barrett, as well as several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by request of the family. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2008 at the S.W. Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Michael and Blanche (Romans) Campbell. He was a mechanic by trade and owned and operated Campbell's Garage in Ball's Creek for over 30 years. Michael enjoyed the outdoor life and he treasured spending time with his family along with fishing, hunting and boating. Michael is survived by his children, Blanche (Paul) Yurchesyn, Sydney Forks, Cordella Campbell, Sydney, Leonard (Audrey) Campbell, Blaise Campbell, Kurt (Mary) Campbell, all of Frenchvale; his sister, Carolyn Kerr, Sydney. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Alana, Michael, Bridget, Nicole, Michelle, Angela, Breagh, Kristen and Stefan; one great-grandson, Karson. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Gloria, brothers, Roy and Vincent. Cremation has taken place. There will no visitation by request. Happy and content, almost angelic in the end out in the boat on the water, with his friend. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Angus (Angie) Joseph McNeil Oct. 26, 1949-June 19, 2008 - It is with great sadness that we, the family of Angus Joseph McNeil, announce his sudden passing on June 19, 2008, after a lengthy illness. Born in Dominion, N.S., he was the son of Aletha (McKenzie) and the late Angus Joseph McNeil. Angus was the loving brother of Shirley DeDieu, Cathy Little, Margie Lissone (Malcolm), Gerard (Sharon), Hector (Marie) and predeceased brothers, David and Arthur. Angus moved to Toronto in 1968. He was a devoted husband to wife, Lynn (Marshall) and their home was in Beeton, Ont. Angus loved to golf, was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his weekly card night at the legion. Angus will be fondly missed by sisters-in-law, Elaine McNeil, Lori Brewer, Susan Marshall and brother-in-law, Bob (Cathy) Marshall. A special spot will remain for him in the hearts of his Auntie Ethel (Mrs. Harvey Graham) and many nieces and nephews. Angus was predeceased by nephew, Paul McNeil, parents-in-law, Marguerite and Herbert Marshall and sister-in-law, Barbara Marshall. A memorial service will be held for Angus, Wednesday, Aug. 6 at 11 a.m. at St. Eugene's Church. Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment For someday that person will not be there. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ann Irene Ursaki (nee Boutilier) - Ann Irene Ursaki (nee Boutilier) passed away in Vernon, B.C., July 30, 2008. Anne was born April 7, 1917, at Little Pond, C.B., N.S. She was one of 12 children of Howard and Nellie Boutilier. Anne was predeceased by brothers, Everett, Ralph, Bernard, Edgar, Dean and John, sisters, Florence, Theresa and Grace, all of Cape Breton. She is survived by sisters, Helen Clarke and Dorothy Fillier, both of Little Pond, and by many nieces and nephews. Anne always longed for the ocean, the mountains and the forests of Nova Scotia and she dearly missed her Cape Breton family. She is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Frank; and two daughters, Lynne, son-in-law Brian Selinger and their children, Kris and Carolyn; and Kathryn and her daughter, Anne Hastings. After graduating from Provincial Normal College, Truro, N.S., she taught Grades 1-10 in her village school. Anne also taught at Florence and at Little Bras d'Or, N.S. During the Second World War, she was granted a leave of absence and was employed in the administrative offices of Foundation Maritime Ltd., shipbuilders, in Pictou, N.S. This was where she met Frank, whose Corvette HMCS Trillium, was in dock for repairs. After their marriage in Regina in 1946, she was employed for several years by the Regina Catholic School Board. She was active with the St. Andrew Home and School Association and was one of the original members of Holy Cross parish in Regina. Anne's greatest joy in life was the love of her family, especially her grandchildren, Kris, Carolyn and Anne. She also enjoyed her trips home to Cape Breton, her winters in Arizona and many fishing trips to northern Saskatchewan with her family. Anne spent the last seven years of her life in nursing homes in Regina and in Vernon. A memorial service will be held in Regina at a future date in the fall. Flowers are gratefully declined. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Lockie and Mary Margaret (Minnie) MacDonald. Ann is survived by three sons, John Jr., Antigonish, Tony, Glace Bay, and Donald, Sydney; three sisters, Elizabeth MacDonald, Sydney, Margaret (Peggy) MacKinnon, Sydney, and Pearl O'Connell, Stratford Ont. Also surviving Ann are a number of nieces and nephews and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, Ann was predeceased by her husband John, sisters, Mary Catherine and Carmell and two brothers, Donald and Collin. In honouring Ann's requests, there will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Mary is survived by her sister-in-law, Clare Murphy, East Bay; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by husband, Thomas Catterina and her brothers, Harry Murphy (East Bay), Bernard, Leo and a sister, Blanche.
