Cape Breton Deaths August 04, 2008 Monday Patrick Allison Mahon 54, Louisbourg - It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we, the family announce the sudden passing of Patrick Mahon, which occurred on July 30, 2008, as a result of a vehicle accident. Born in Louisbourg, he was the son of the late Patrick Thomas and Helen (Baldwin) Mahon. Pat was employed with J.R. Mahoney Ltd. as a refrigeration technician. Pat was an avid Screaming Eagles and Montreal Canadiens fan. He had a great sense of humour. He always enjoyed spending time with his family and giving a helping hand. He was a music enthusiastic and loved listening to many different artists. Pat is survived by his brothers, twin brother and best friend, Mike (Debbie), James (Jocelyn), Bernard (Peggy), all of Louisbourg; sisters, Patricia (Gerard) Lachance, Cole Harbour, Veronica Mahon, Cole Harbour, Maureen (Pierre) Gerdron, Gatineau, Que.; half brother, Joseph McMullin, Sydney River. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Jamie Mahon, Nicholas Lachance, Justin Mahon, Melissa Gendron, Christopher Gendron, Jacqueline Lachance, Patrick Mahon, Joseph Mahon, Adrianne Mahon and greatnephews, Owen Mahon and Avry Drolet. Besides his parents, Pat was predeceased by his sister, Martina Marie and brother, Joseph Mahon. Visitation took place Sunday, Aug. 3 at Stella Maris Church, Louisbourg, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held 2 p.m. today (Monday) at Stella Maris Church, with Fr. Patrick O'Neill officiating. Interment to take place in Old Town Cemetery, Louisbourg. Donations may be made to a charity of choice. Pat was an irreplaceable gentle and kind person who touched all our hearts, especially his nieces and nephews. He will always be missed. Online condolences may be sent to our webpage at www.chantfuneralhome.com. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Christine (Chris) Florence Morrison 95, New Waterford - It is with great sadness the family announces that their precious aunt, Christine (Chris) Morrison, passed away peacefully on Aug. 1, 2008, at the Glace Bay Health Care Complex, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Millville, she was the daughter of the late Donald John and Sarah Jane (Smith) Morrison. Chris was a dedicated and very devoted church person and was a member of Calvin United Church. At one time, she belonged to the Women's Church Group, and was an avid quilter and during her younger years, she worked at Schwartz Store and the Co-op. In her capable years, walking was one of her favourite pastimes. Chris is survived by her sister, Margaret (Donald) MacLeod, Liverpool, Donna and John (Arlene and Mark), Adrian (Cara), Glenda and Jim (Crystal and Amy), Donnie and Ruth Ann (Ian and Jeanie), Gordie and Shaun (Kirk and Scott), Dougie and Wilma (Emily and Neil, Kenny (Ian, Stephen and Maggie); also four great-grandnieces and nephews, Jacqueline, Conor, Steven and Morgan. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her sister Mary Gadd, as well as brothers, Roddie, Smithie and Murdock. By her request, cremation has taken place and a celebration of Chris's life will be held Aug. 11, 2 p.m. at Calvin United Church with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating and burial in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. A luncheon will take place in the church hall, all are invited. Arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, N.S., 862-7500. Rest peacefully our Dear Aunt Chris, you will be remembered in our hearts forever. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ruth Rita Cox 89, Sydney Mines - Ruth (Rita) Cox, 89, of Miners Memorial Manor, Sydney Mines, formerly of Glebe Avenue, Sydney, passed away Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at the manor. She was a daughter of the late Ross and Mary (MacInnis) Smith. She was a member of Sacred Heart parish. Rita is survived by two daughters, Myrna, Sydney, and Sharon (Lawrence) Jellow, North Sydney; one son, Robert (Ann), East Bay; grandchildren, Tim Jellow, Cheryl MacInnis, Benji Jellow, Lorna Jellow, Rob Cox and Terry Patterson; and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, George Albert in 1992, sisters, Florence Smith and Margie Campbell, brothers, Robert and Billie. There will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Anthony O'Connor officiating. Following the service, a private family burial will take place at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
