Halifax Herald February 12, 1964 SYDNEY MINES - Jacob MacDowell, 81, of Fraser Avenue, Sydney Mines, died Tuesday at Harbor View Hospital. Native of Scotland, he came here 60 years ago and was employed at Florence Colliery until retirement 15 years ago. He was a member of Clyde Avenue Baptist Church. Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth MacAllister, Scotland. His wife and daughter and a son, Jacob, predeceased him. The remains are at the Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home, Sydney Mines.
