Philomena MacDougall MacDOUGALL, Philomena R.N. 1915 - 2008 (nee Beaton) Longtime resident of The Arnprior Villa passed away in the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital on Saturday, June 14, 2008 in her 94th year. Beloved wife of the late Raymond MacDougall and loving mother of Paul of Nova Scotia. Special aunt to JoAnne Bretzlaff (Lorne) and Geraldine Babineau (David). Phil graduated from St. Joseph's Hospital in Glace Bay Nova Scotia and practiced as a registered nurse in Kirkland Lake and Ottawa. She came from a large Cape Breton family and will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Resting at The Boyce Funeral Home, Chapel, Visitation and Reception Centre 138 Daniel St. N., Arnprior where family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 18th from 1 - 2:45 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. John Chrysostom Church at 3 p.m. Private family interment in Ottawa on Thursday. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to "Partners in Caring" of Arnprior Hospital or The Arnprior Villa. MATHESON, Donald Michael "Don" Peacefully at home in Merrickville, Ontario on May 28, 2008 at the age of 68. Formerly of Sydney, N.S. Son of the late Donald and Winnifred (Coonan) Matheson. Beloved husband and soul mate of Caroline (Matheson) Matheson. Loving father of Robert (Josette Louli) and Kelley (Patrick Cholette). Proud Grandpa to Joshua, Jonas, Corey, Leo and Emily. Survived by sisters Pearl (Herbert Martin) of Dartmouth, Clare of Sydney, Kathleen (Albert Hill) of Sydney, brother Raymond (Lucy Leroux) of Petrolia and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sister Patricia (2007) and brother-in-law Phillip Brooks (2008). Also survived by mother-in-law Minnie Matheson of Sydney, sister-in-law Hughena Matheson (Andrew Sobkiewicz) of Burlington and brother-in-law Donald Matheson of Toronto. Retired Sydney Academy high school teacher. Forever passionate about world affairs and social issues. Loyal Maple Leafs and Montreal Expos fan. Accomplished gardener and cook. Admirer of music, literature and the arts. Avid tarbish and pool player. Will be especially missed by his best friends Clyde Campbell and Lloyd Pistone. In memory of Don, a memorial gathering will be held in Ottawa at the Pinecrest Reception Center, 2500 Baseline Road, on Saturday June 7, 2008 from 2 pm-4 pm. A Cape Breton gathering in his memory will be held at a later date. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Brian Dick and staff, the many doctors and nurses at the Ottawa General Hospital and the Regional Cancer Centre of Eastern Ontario, Smiths Falls (Beckwith St.) Pharma Plus, Community Care coordinator Marie McLean and in particular, nurses Connie, Joanne and Darleen and Dr. Anna Wojski.
