This is a request for a translation. I put it through Babel and it didn't translate the word "ondoye" so I putting the whole sentence here in hopes that someone can tell me what it says. "Jean Roy est recensé au Cap au Sable en 1686 sous le nom de Laliberté. L'acte de baptPme de Joseph Amirant précise que l'enfant a été ondoyé en 1698 par Jean Le Roy dit «Laliberté»." If I'm reading it with a bit of comprehension, it looks like there's a baptism of a child in 1698, which would be Charles LeRoy (I'm hoping :). Karen, It means "annointed." It is a baptism done by a lay person in the absence of clergy, and usually at some future time was regularized by a clergyman. This was often done in remote settlements with no priest, and usually by a village elder or respected man.
