Does anyone have any information that would connect to this Lew MacVicar? I'm wondering if he fits into my MacVicar family anywhere. The Vancouver Sun - October 23, 2008 Elsie Vera MacVicar: Elsie and Lew enjoyed a happy marriage for 65 years until Lew died in 2006. She is survived by her daughter, Heather, son-in-law Tom, grandchildren Michael (Kristi) and Sean (Gail), sisters Norma (Bob) and Phyllis, sister-in-law Kay, great-grandchildren Lachlan, Severen, Finnegan and Oliver and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Amelia and Carl and husband lew, Elsie grieved the loss of two sisters, Mabel and Jeannie and three brothers, Lou, John and George. Elsie was born in New Zealand and grew up in a family of eight children whose parents moved to different parts of the world until settling in Victoria and then Vancouver. She started working early to help support the family, receiving limited formal schooling but acquiring a fine education in life. Elsie was very close to her family and thrived on extensive gatherings of family and friends. She and Lew enjoyed travelling on vacations around the world and lived for two years in Australia when Heather was young. She loved being a part of her grandchildren's activities and was with them as often as she could be. She had a charming way of coming up with words and phrases that weren't quite right but made sense nevertheless. Elsie will be greatly missed. Many thanks to the staff of Kiwanis Care Centre in North Vancouver for the loving care they bestowed on Elsie. There will be a private gathering of friends and family to celebrate Elsie's life.
