Cape Breton Deaths october 01, 2008 Wednesday William Stanley 'Bill'Lozinski 90, River Ryan - William Stanley 'Bill' Lozinski, 90, of Union Highway, River Ryan, passed away Monday, Sept. 29, 2008, at home. Born in Sifton, Man., he was a son of the late Michael and Pauline Lozinski. He enlisted in the army at a young age and served overseas during the Second World War. After serving his country Bill returned to Manitoba with his new wife, Bridget Hurley. The couple worked on a farm for 10 years before returning to Cape Breton Island. He was a licensed carpenter who belonged to the Labour Union. Bill enjoyed the outdoors and was known for his ability to fix or build almost anything. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Bridget (Hurley) Lozinski; children, Bernice (Joey) Deveaux, New Waterford, Stanley (Carol) Lozinski, British Columbia, Frank (Bonnie) Lozinski, Wally (Ivy) Lozinski, both of Ontario, Polly (Ray) Keeping, New Waterford, Pius (Tina) Campbell, Gloria (Albert) McMullin, both of Scotchtown; brothers, John Lozinski, Walter Lozinski, both of Ontario, Peter Lozinski, Florida; sister, Nelie Lozinski, Ontario; several grand and great-grandchildren. Bill was predeceased by brothers, George and Adam, one daughter in infancy. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration for Bill will take place Friday, Oct. 3 at 11 a.m. in the Parish of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Church with Fr. Doug MacDonald officiating. Cremation will follow with interment in the parish cemetery at a later date. Following the funeral mass, the family wishes to invite relatives and friends to their home on 5261 Union Hwy., River Ryan, for a luncheon. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest, God broke our heart to prove to us, he only takes the best. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ellen Beatrice 'Nellie' LeBlanc 93, Alder Point - It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our precious mother Ellen 'Nellie' LeBlanc, 93, on Monday, Sept. 29, 2008, at the Northside General Hospital. Born and raised in North Sydney, she was the daughter of the late John and Annie Beatrice (Boutilier) Young. She was a member of St. Anne's parish, Alder Point. Nellie devoted her whole life to her family. She spent most of her days calling her children and grandchildren, expressing her love and concern for all of them. She was a kind-hearted, gentle woman who always put others above herself. She was an inspiration, and showed us the meaning of unconditional love. She is survived by her daughters, Ann Marie (Frank) Hurley, Alder Point, with whom she resided, Carol (Edward) Rendell, Groves Point; and sons, Brian (Tina) LeBlanc, Millville, Melvin (Rose) LeBlanc, Mill Creek, Ambrose (Sally) LeBlanc, Bras d'Or. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Willena LeBlanc, Florence; and her sister, Bernette (Benvie) Cummings; 24 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren, who she was very proud of and loved dearly. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 53 years, Joseph LeBlanc, her beloved children, John (LaLa) LeBlanc, Jenny (Edward) Boutilier, infant son Vincent and grandson, Sheldon (Shelly) Boutilier. She was also predeceased by her brothers, John, Joseph, Edward, William, Louis and Henry, sisters, Dot and Clance and a brother and sister in infancy, Bernard and Pearl. As per her request, there will be a private family viewing in the J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, Friday, Oct. 3, 2008, from 12-1:30 p.m. A funeral mass to celebrate her life will follow at 2 p.m. in St. Joseph Church, Bras d'Or, at 2 p.m. with Fr. Peter MacLeod officiating. The burial will be in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations in Nellie's memory may be made to a charity of choice. "Love You Forever" ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Michael Leo Brennan 80, Sydney - Michael Leo Brennan, 80, of Sydney, passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 29, 2008, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care Facility, Sydney. Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late William and Margaret (Duhart) Brennan. Michael was employed for many years as a factory worker in Toronto, returning to Sydney in 1965. He was a former member of Sacred Heart parish. He is survived by his wife, the former Eva LaPolder; a sister, Elizabeth Brennan and a brother, John Brennan; along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary 'Kaye' Zinck and brother, Joseph Brennan. Visitation will take place at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Joe Lively passed away Sept. 30, 2008, at the age of 57. Joe was born in Sydney to the late Joseph and Margaret (Hayes) Lively. Leaving to mourn are his sons, Joey (Leigh), Raymond (Jen) and Derek. As well as two adorable grandsons, Cole and Braiden; special niece, (Squirt); Rose, mother of his three children and many extended family and friends, all of Oshawa. Also survived by his sisters, Sadie (Jerry) MacMullin, Florence Lewis, Mary Ann (Gary) Morrison, Rachael (Micheal) Ferrar; brothers, Benny (Jane), Michael, Sam, Neil (Tracy); many nieces and nephews, and special friend, Precious. Visitation will take place Thursday, Oct. 2 at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3 at Immaculate Heart Church, Mira Road, with Fr. Gerald Dunphy officiating. His retirement years were spent in P.E.I., where he passed away suddenly. An only child, he was predeceased by his parents, J. Oscar and Helen (Prendergast) Merchant. He will be missed and always remembered by many. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Oct. 6 in St. Mary's Church, East Bay, followed by interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Harold MacLeod 97, Glace Bay - Harold MacLeod is also survived by Joe MacLeod, wife of his son, Fred of Vancouver.
