Ok, so the way I got into this thing today with contacting the grandson of Alexander MacDonald - my copy of his genealogy research has a researcher listing an Alexander marrying Margaret McQuarrie. Alexander was son of Duncan MacDonald and Anne MacLellan. Sounded pretty definitive to me so I ran with it - However, i have also made note of an Alexander MacDonald on deed records for southern half of lot 34 Boularderie - he is listed with Ann, and mary MacDonald, margaret Mcleod and Isabella Mcleod in 1887 at which time they sold their interest in Lot 34 to Roderick MacDonald and Donald MacDonald. I believe perhaps, Duncan MacDonald ghad passed away and left the land to family and they sold to these two brothers - leading me to think there is in fact a brother Alexander MacDonald - however, the one mentioned above would have already been in US by this time. Furthermore... I have also come across a posting titled Descendants of Alexander MacDonald (on cbgha website - email contact is no longer valid) - this Alexander was bron 15 March 1830 in Boularderie and married rachel Ferguson. One of there children, Roderick was bron at Man O War Point, Boularderie. My Duncan and Ann borrowed money in 1868 from Ronald and Margaret Ferguson in order to purchase southern half lot 34 from Roderick MacDonald of Sydney. I'm thinking their may be a connection with my MacDonalds and the Fergusons, but can't put it together. Oh, I keep wishing they tried out some new names back then!!!! I'm afraid by the time I get back to all this I'll forget where I was! Anyone have any insight? Thanks, lauren
