Cape Breton Deaths October 28, 2008 Tuesday Bill Hillier 76, Sydney - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather, William David 'Bill' Hillier, 76, of Sydney, on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at home. Born in Sydney, Bill was the son of the late Archibald and Mary (Coffey) Hillier. Bill retired from Sydney Steel in 1989 after 24 years and prior to this he was well known for his coal delivery service. He had a passion for playing the guitar and singing at many a Christmas party. A loving caring person whose family was his greatest joy, he was a kind and gentle man loved by all who knew him especially his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, the former Mary 'Mamie' Sullivan and by his children, Bill (Kelly), Pennfield, N.B., Nadine (Ralph Erickson), Iona, Allan (Raylene), Sydney, and Tracey (Jamie), Sydney. Also surviving are grandchildren, Tana, David, Brittany, Allison, Tyler, Jordan, Larissa, Nicole, Trevor and great-grandchildren, Brandon, Tristan, Aiden and Andrew. Bill is also survived by brother, Ernest (Aggie) and sister, Theresa (Frankie), both of Sydney; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Viola. Visitation for Mr. Bill Hillier will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, 755 George St., Sydney with funeral service to be celebrated Thursday at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Gerald Dunphy officiating. Burial in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. God broke our hearts to show us, that he only takes the best. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dollena MacDonald 86, Sydney - We regret to announce the passing of Dollena MacDonald on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Stillwater, she was the daughter of the late Archie MacDonald and Effie MacLean. Dollena was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, Sydney, and a past member of the Rebekah Lodge. She was employed with Simpson Sears until her retirement. Dollena enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching hockey with her husband and spending time at the Bungalow in Mira. Dollena is survived by her son, Henry 'Hank' (Libby) MacDonald; daughter, Carey Dale (Ross) Kinder; grandchildren, Donna Marie, Jayne Lynn, Jason, Stephanie, Angela and three great-grandchildren, Amanda, Kayla and Jenna; as well as her special friends, Babe and Ivan Crowdis. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John Carey MacDonald, (2006) and brother, Roddie MacDonald. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Helen (Donovan) Morgan. She was a member of Immaculate Conception parish, Sydney Mines. Eunice is survived by her husband, Melvin McGean; her sons, Brian (Sherri), Halifax, Wayne (Laurie), Sydney Mines, Kenneth (Sharon), Alberta, Darren (Wendy), Ontario, David (Sheri), Sydney Mines, and Keith, Sydney Mines; and 11 grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters, Eileen Gerrow, Jean (Robert) McGean, Mildred (Dan) Young and Yvonne (Dougie) Serroul; brothers, Wallace (Dorothy) Morgan, Clarence Morgan and Carl Morgan and Lillian. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her father and mother-in-law, John and Viola McGean, her brother, Joseph Morgan and her sister, Blanch Whitty. There will be a private family viewing Wednesday, 7-9 p.m. in Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. Born in Neil's Harbour, he was the son of the late Hubert and Alice (Strickland) Williams. He was a lifelong fisherman. Owen is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean (Ingraham); sons, Fred (Sharon), Ingonish, Wilbert (Debbie), Ingonish; daughters, Donna (Murdoch) MacIntosh, Smelt Brook, Yvonne (David) Matheson, Middleton, N.S., Elizabeth (Andrew) Campbell, Riverview, N.B.; and brother, Thomas, Neil's Harbour. Also, Owen will be sadly missed by his 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, Owen was predeceased by brothers, John, Wilbert and Stewart, sisters, Dorothy, Elizabeth, Ellen, Phyllis, Marion and Shirley. Cremation has taken place.
