THE SYDNEY RECORD OCTOBER 21, 1915 LATE ALEX. GILLIS. Baddeck News-Alexander Gillis of South Bay, Ingonish, died at that place at 4 o'clock Monday morning. Oct. 14, aged 72 years. The deceased had only been ill for a few days and succumbed very suddenly. Pneumonia is said to have been the cause of his death. He was very well and favorably known in the north shore district and his demise will be greatly regretted. At the time of his death he was fishery officer for Ingonish, an appointment he received in the fall of 1911. He leaves a wife and one son at home, and two daughters, Mrs. Joseph Hines of Sydney and Mrs. John Cook of Ingonish. He was buried at 4 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, the services being conducted by Rev. Father McEwen. The funeral was one of the largest ever seen in Ingonish, and showed the esteem in which the deceased was held among his neighbors. submitted by es718 <es718@freenet.carleton.ca>
