    3. The Sydney Record - Saturday Evening, September 18, 1915 RECOVER BODY OF JOS. GEORGE The remains of Joseph George, the seaman who disappeared last Sunday afternoon while canoeing, was recovered from the harbor about 11 o'clock this morning, after a search had been made during the past seven days. The body was noticed by the captain and men of the Electric Company's ferry steamer "Electronic" floating off the wharf at Point Edward, while on her 10:10 trip to North Sydney, where on her arrival the Sydney office was at once notified and the body was picked up and landed at McKinnon's wharf. The remains were at once removed to Beaton's undertaking rooms, where they will remain until their removal to Halifax which will likely be done tomorrow night. The body (was?) a fine state of reservation considering the length of time it has lain in the water, though the clothes are badly torn, and there are a number of bruises and marks on the face and hands. The deceased was a young man about 20 years and a native of Halifax. He was a trimmer on one of the patrol ships, and was a general favorite among his comrades. **************** The Sydney Record, September 20, 1915 BODY SENT HOME The body of the late Joseph H. George, trimmer, who was drowned in the harbor Sunday before last, was sent to his home at Halifax for interment, by last nights express. The coroner's jury, empanelled by Coroner McKinnon, completed their work on Saturday evening, returning a verdict of accidental death. submitted by es718 <es718@freenet.carleton.ca>
