The Sydney Record - September 23, 1915 DEATH OF WELL KNOWN EDITOR A telegram received by Judge L. X. MacDonald of the probate court yesterday from St. Louis, Mo., contained news of the death in that city on Tuesday last of Rev. Fr. D. S. Phalen, editor of the Western Watchman, probably the most prominent Catholic journal on the continent. The late Fr. Phalen was born at North Sydney over seventy years ago and has several relatives in Cape Breton. R.F. Phalen, barrister, of North Sydney is a cousin.
