Cape Breton Deaths November 07, 2008 Friday Adelaide Félicité Deveau Belle Cote - It is with heavy hearts and with most loving memories that we are saddened to announce the sudden passing of our mom, Adelaide, age 74, upon arrival to Sacred Heart Community Health Centre, Cheticamp, Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008. Born Sept. 30, 1934, in Belle Cote, to the late John P. and Margaret (Chiasson) LeBlanc, she was a true Bellecoter, only living away briefly in Montreal and Toronto, before moving home to stay in 1957. It's here they raised six children and helped raise her beloved grandchildren with whom she loved to play Scrabble. No one passed through our doors without having at least a cup of tea, many with fresh homemade bread and preserves. She was an avid bingo and card player and even on her last morning completed her daily crossword and cryptoquote. Along with running the in-home Canada Post outlet for almost 30 years, she was a member of the St. Michael CWL, a lecturer and involved in the Belle Cote Community Centre. Belle Cote Days were her most favourite time of year, the more the merrier, so many laughs and stories shared. She leaves to mourn her husband of 52 years, Gerry; three sons, Junior, Belle Cote, Johnny (Linda), Edmonton, and Herman, Belle Cote/Fort McMurray; three daughters, Lucy (Lawrence) Miller, Ann (Ross MacKay), both of Halifax, and Ella (Frank) White, Norwood, Mass.; grandchildren, Meaghan, Ashley, Shelly, Caithlin, Cassey, Johnathon, Matthew, Trenton and Jordan; one sister, Mary Catherine (Dennis) Murphy; aunt, Marie Louise Moncousky, mother-in-law, Lucy Lortie; daughter-in-law, Mona Deveau. She will be sorely missed by her card and bingo buddies, Caroline, John, Cecile and "the angels" Anne Louise, Dorothy and Wilena. She was predeceased by one sister, Mary Louise Cormier. Visitation will be take place today (Friday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Belle Cote Community Centre. Funeral will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Michael's Church, Margaree, Fr. Jim MacDonald officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery. Donations may be made to the Belle Cote and Area Community Centre.
