THE SYDNEY RECORD, SEPTEMBER 3, 1915 DIED IN HOSPITAL The death of J.H. Thomas, chief engineer of the steamer Romney, occurred at the Marine Hospital at about eight o'clock this morning after a brief illness. The deceased was taken ill on board the ship last night and Dr. E.J. Johnstone, who was immediately summoned had the sufferer transferred to the Marine Hospital where the best of care failed to avert death. The remains which were removed to undertaker Lowden's will be interred in Hardwood Hill cemetery this afternoon, the funeral leaving Christ Church at 3 o'clock. The deceased who was well known to shipping men here was held in the highest esteem and general regret is expressed at his unexpected demise.
