    3. The Sydney Record-Friday Evening - September 24, 1915 DEATH OF JOHN MACKAY There died at Ainslee Glen in the county of Inverness on the eighth day of September, one of the old landmarks in the person of John MacKay, in his 93rd year. He saw his native place pass from the forest primeval into the smiling meadows. He was an old school teacher and justice of the peace, who by conduct and precept, adorned his profession as teacher, and rendered justice and peace between man and man, when difficulties arose before him. As a member of the community he lived an exemplary and moral life. His wife predeceased him thirteen years ago. He leaves to mourn for a kind father, four sons and three daughters, Hugh, living in Eureka, N.S., Neil and Peter, both of Thorburn; James in the west; Mrs. James Phillips, Margaree; Mrs. Walter Burton, Brookline, Mass., and Miss Kate at the old homestead.
