THE SYDNEY RECORD SATURDAY EVENING OCTOBER 16, 1915 SUDDEN DEATH FOLLOWS NORTH SYDNEY TRAGEDY Mrs J.W. Peppett Died of Heart Failure This Morning (Special to the Record) North Sydney, Oct. 16-Following so shortly on the tragic death of Mrs. McNaughton the townspeople were greatly shocked this morning to learn of the sudden death of her mother Mrs. J.W. Peppett who passed away at her home corner Pierce and Pleasant Streets at eight o'clock following an acute attack of heart failure. Mrs. Peppet had not been in good health for a long time, though always able to be about, and the circumstances attending her recent heavy bereavement was a very great strain on her. This was further intensified by the departure last night of her only son, Private Claude W. Peppett who left by the 9:15 train to rejoin his battalion at Valcartier, so knowing her weakened condition it was no surprise to the family physician Dr. M.T. McLean, to be summoned to the Peppett home at seven thirty this morning. Mrs. Peppett who was then in a very weak condition was sitting on a couch. Restoratives quickly applied produced no effect and she passed peacefully away at eight o'clock as stated. Mrs. Peppett was a daughter of the late Capt. Peter Moore, one of the oldest families in the town, and being a life long resident was well and favourably known. She was sixty-two years of age. Her immediate surviving relatives are her daughter Mrs. S.P. Bolling of this town and son Private Claude W. Peppett of the 40th battalion, Valcartier, also one sister Miss B.A. Moore who in this their double sorrow have the heartfelt sympathy of the whole community. Private Peppett has been notified at Truro of the sad occurance and Premier Murray has requested authorities at Valcartier for an extension of time for him to enable him to return to attend his mother's obsequies. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made. submitted by es718 <es718@freenet.carleton.ca>
