Published in the Vancouver Sun and/or The Province on 7/5/2008 Raymond Keating Raymond Joesph Keating September 20, 1928 - June 24, 2008 God saw the road was getting rough And the hills were hard to climb So He closed your weary eyelids And whispered, "Peace be thine." It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond Francis Keating on June 24, 2008 at Surrey Memorial Hospital. In his 79 years he was blessed with a loving family and more friends than he could count. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 50 years Patricia, his three children Mike (Laura), Kathy (Mike) and Raymond (Leigh Anne), his grandchildren Scott, Terra, Justine, Caitlyn, Bailie and his brother Frank. He was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia on September 20, 1928 to Michael and Catherine Keating and he kept true to his Irish routes with his gift of story telling and advice giving. No matter where he went he always managed to find someone from Nova Scotia to talk to and swap stories with. If you couldn't find Ray on the golf course he was probably hitting someone up in the community for prizes for his latest golf tournament or a school fundraiser. You knew when you saw him coming that you may as well just give him something, because if you didn't, he would just guilt you into it by telling you he would go to church and pray for you. You know he never left empty handed.
