    3. Mar 21, 1998 Halifax Chronicle Herald: DEACON, Ivor - Aged 69 years, of 1160 Valley Rd., Springhill, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 1998, in Highland View Regional Hospital, Amherst. Born in Glace Bay, on March 14, 1929, he was a son of the late Arthur and Annie (Davies) Deacon. He was a loyal and long standing member of the A.A. Junction Group, Springhill; past member of Cumberland Lodge 5, Knights of Pythias, and an adherent to the United Church of Canada. His early working years were spent with Cumberland Railway and Coal Company in Springhill until their closing in 1958. He then changed his vocation to that of an automotive salesperson with C.W. Carter Ltd., Springhill. He then became a service station operator and shortly after obtained his car dealers license and continued as a dealer until retirement in 1994. He is survived by his wife, the former Margaret Olive Dickie; sons, Brian, at home; Paul and wife Marijo, Valley Road, Springhill; brothers, Gordon and wife Erva, Winnipeg; David and wife Marina, Orillia, Ont.; sister, Margaret (Mrs. Ronald Walker), Victoria B.C. He was predeceased by brother, Kenneth. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today, 3-5, 7-9 p.m. Sunday in A.H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill, from where funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Rev. Dewis Rector officiating. Burial in Glenville Cemetery, Cumberland County.
