Don't know if there is a connection here, but noted the name "Micossi" in a Cape Breton Post obit of 2 July 2008, right after reading Maureen's July 1 "Nauffts" message, which included the "Micossi" name a couple of times. Alex. Edith 'Eta' Nemis 92, New Waterford - Edith 'Eta' Nemis, 92, of King Street, New Waterford, passed away Monday, June 30, 2008, at New Waterford Hospital, following a long battle with cancer. Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Enrica (Miccossi) Nemis. Edith was a member of the Parish of St. Leonard, Mt. Carmel Church. She enjoyed travelling and spent several years in Montreal and then Brantford, Ont. She would also make frequent trips to Los Angeles visiting her daughter, Helen and granddaughter, Ashley. She enjoyed playing cards and darts and was known to be a great conversationalist. Edith was also an active lady who loved to walk. She loved people, especially her relatives, and had a great sense of humour. She will be sorrowfully missed by her daughter, Helen, granddaughter, Ashley, niece, Sally and all of her family and friends. Surviving are daughter, Helen Hendra and granddaughter, Ashley, Los Angeles, Calif.; brother, Joseph (Rita) Nemis, New Waterford; special niece, Sally Durando; special nephew, Leno and his wife Pauline DeGiobbi; as well as several other nieces and nephews. Edith was predeceased by her sisters, Rena Rizzetto, Anna DeGiobbi, brothers, Johnny, Dominic, James 'Cookie' and Louie. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will be held Friday, July 4 at 2 p.m. in the Parish of St. Leonard, Mt. Carmel Church with Fr. Dan MacDonald officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Carmel Centre, all are welcome. Donations in Edith's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
