Cape Breton Deaths July 03, 2008 Thursday Annie Mae MacAskill 1904-2008 - It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Annie Mae MacAskill on Tuesday, July 1, 2008. Annie Mae was born in Glace Bay in 1904 to John and Mary Graham. She lived in Glace Bay for a number of years and married Daniel MacDonald (deceased). Annie moved to Halifax after she married Donald MacAskill (deceased). She was well known in both Sydney and Glace Bay and was well loved and respected by all who knew her. Annie was known to be very witty and a charming lady. Annie Mae leaves to mourn her sister, Minnie MacMullin. She was also survived by numerous nephews and a special niece, Lucy Grant, Caurtenay, B.C.; and very special friend and companion, Korena Sparley. She was predeceased by sister, Decie Grant, brothers, Harold, Graham, John 'Bunny', Cecil and Ray. Visitation for the late Annie Mae MacAskill will take place Thursday, July 3 at Patten Funeral Home & Chapel, 71 Union St., Glace Bay, 849-7520, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place Friday, July 4 at Knox United Church, Glace Bay, at 2 p.m. with Rev. John Finlayson officiating. Burial to take place in Greenwood Cemetery. In accordance with Mom's wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial service at St. Joseph's Church in New Victoria at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2008, with Rev. Dan MacDonald to preside, with a gathering at Branch 128 legion in Whitney Pier following the service. Venerena (Micossi) beloved wife of the late Stephen Albert Nauffts; cherished mother of Bernadette (Lyle), Denise, Coleen (Alex) and Elaine (Eddie), both deceased; lovingly remembered by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; predeceased by three grandchildren. Visitation was held at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Rd. West, Oakville, (one block east of Kerr, 905-844-2600), Wednesday, July 1, 2008, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass 10 a.m., today (Thursday, July 3, 2008) at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, 181 Sewell Dr., Oakville.
