Mar 9, 1998 Chronicle Herald: MATTINSON, Mary Augusta - 87, Glace Bay, died March 7, 1998, in Glace Bay Health Care Complex. Born in Pictou, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Evelyn (Hughes) Mattinson. She worked at British Canadian Co-operative Store and for over 30 years at Glace Bay General Hospital. She was a lifelong member of Knox United Church, Glace Bay; former member of Knox United Church Women; lifelong member and past noble grand of Jubilee Rebekah Lodge 14; past president of Rebekah District 17; recipient of the Decoration of Chivalry (Rebekah's highest honor), and member of the elite Ladies Auxiliary Patriarch Militant 10. She worked for many years as a volunteer for Books on Wheels at the General Hospital. Surviving are niece, Harolyn Gourley; nephew, Walter Mattinson, both of Glace Bay. She was predeceased by sister, Evelyn Louise Mattinson-Gourley; brother, Harold Norman. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, funeral 2 p.m. Tuesday, both in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home and chapel, Rev. David MacLean officiating. Burial in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
