Brown, Terrance G. - published March 10, 2009 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- John Garfield 'Killer' Kieley, Sydney Mines at Sydney Mines , Nova Scotia , Canada - We regret to announce the sudden passing of John Garfield 'Gary' Kieley on March 7, 2009, at his home in Sydney Mines. Born in Sydney Mines, he was the son of the late Michael Joseph and Angela (Young) Kieley. He was a member of St. Pius X parish, Sydney Mines. He worked at Marine Atlantic for the past 35 years. He had a great love for his cars. He is survived by his sisters, Cindy (Mitchel) Wilson, Rose (Gordon) Donovan, Pat (Paul) King, Lorraine Ackmentins, Dorothy (Robert) Watson and Diane (Matthew) Todd; Aunt Margaret Kieley; his nephew, Johnny Kieley, Ontario and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his special friend, Sharon Kirton, Sydney Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Michael; sisters, Joan and Theresa; niece, Joann and nephews, Brian and Kevin. Visitation for Gary Kieley will be held in the J. M. Jobes Funeral Home today (Wednesday), March 11, 2009, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass will take place on Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Hughie MacNeil officiating. A reception will follow in the parish hall. Fred passed away suddenly Monday, March 9, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born in North Sydney, he was the son of the late Fred and Ethel (Hatcher) Robinson. Fred was a member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney. He is survived by his two daughters, Tammy and Brenda, both of Toronto; and their mother, Kathy; a grandson, Jeffrey, Toronto; seven brothers, Leo, Walter (Cathy), Jackie (Dawn), all of North Sydney, Clayton and Alex, both of Whitney Pier, Ronnie, Sydney, Joe (Diana), Ohio; four sisters, Bonnie (Victor), Whitney Pier, Cora (Ronnie) Shaw, Bras d'Or, Naomi (Lawrence) Boutilier and Janie (Roger), both of North Sydney; also by many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; and by special friends Liz and Levi Nippard. Fred was predeceased by his brother, Daniel in infancy. The family would like to express our gratitude to the EMC paramedics, the doctors and nurses at the Northside General Hospital, the staff of the CCU at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, as well as Fr. Brown, 66, Glace Bay - Terrance Brown, Sydney at Glace Bay , Nova Scotia , Canada - Terry passed away peacefully Monday, March 9, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. He was a son of the late Willie and Nellie Brown of Caledonia. Terry lived in Glace Bay for most of his life. He spent a number of years in the culinary services field in Ontario and also worked in the healthcare field at the psychiatric unit of Montreal Hospital. He enjoyed the arts and had a passion and flair for interior decorating 'decorating on a shoestring'; and answered many tailoring requests as well as window dressing and design for local hotels. Surviving are nieces, Carolyn (William) Snow, Sydney, and Diana (Gerry) Furlong, Mira Gut; nephews, James McKinnon, Glace Bay, William (Bev) MacKinnon, Edmonton, and Sandy (Jerry) MacDonald, Halifax; as well as many close friends who were like family to him. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a sister, Rita MacDonald (nee Brown). Cremation has taken place. A funeral Liturgy of the Word will be celebrated by Rev. Gerald Campbell on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Curry's Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. Donations in Terry's memory are suggested to the Glace Bay Food Bank or charity of choice.
