Elizabeth _____________________________ Published: Nashua Telegraph (Nashua, NH, USA), Tuesday, March 17, 2009 Hugh J. MacDonald, Hudson Mr. Hugh J. MacDonald of Hudson, NH Friday, March 13, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Nashua, NH. He was married to the late Mrs. Leona (Fitzpatrick) MacDonald who died March 2, 2005. Born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada on Dec. 6, 1916, the son of the late Alex and Mary (Gillis) MacDonald. He was a graduate of St. Michael’s Elementary School in Lowell, MA, and Lowell High School with the class of 1936. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. Over the years he was employed as a Professional Umpire with the minor leagues, and as a Civilian Auto Technician at Ft. Devens in Ayer, MA with the U.S. Army and the Massachusetts National Guard. He was a former communicant of Sacred Heart Church of Lowell, MA, St. Joseph’ s Church of Nashua, NH, and was currently a very active communicant at St. Kathryn Church of Hudson, NH. He was a past member of Walker-Rogers V.F.W. Post in Lowell, MA, and a current member and Board of Trustee of the VFW Post 5791 of Hudson, NH. He is survived by three sons and their wives, David and his wife Deborah MacDonald of Tyngsboro, MA, Anthony and his wife Maureen MacDonald of Windsor, CT., and Stephen and his wife Diane MacDonald of Hudson, NH; two sisters, Florence Champagne of Groton, CT, and Margaret Michaud of Lowell, MA; and a brother, John Mac Donald of Norwich, CT; and two grandchildren, Michael MacDonald and his fiancé, Haley McCarthy both of Goffstown, NH and Nathan MacDonald of Hudson, NH; and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours Tues. 4 to 7 PM. Funeral Wed at 9 a.m. from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m at St. Kathryn Church in Hudson, NH. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell, MA. Memorials may be made in his name to the St. Kathryn Church Vocation Support Association, donated flowers will be re-arranged and delivered to local hospitals and nursing homes.
