LaPlante, Robert Joshua - published March 19, 2009 Emma Antle, New Waterford Born in 11/06/1921 at Glace Bay , Nova Scotia , Canada - Emma Antle of Ellsworth Avenue, New Waterford, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at New Waterford Consolidated Hospital. Born in Glace Bay on June 11, 1921, Emma was a daughter of the late Charles and Annie Mae (Townes) Roper. She was a devoted member and volunteer at All Saints Memorial Church. She was a dedicated member of the Ladies Guild for over 60 years and served as its president for many years. Emma is survived by daughters, Pearl (Robert) McNeil, P.E.I., Leona (Stephen) Aucoin, Shirley Kelly; son, Johnny (Barbara), all of town. Also surviving are sister, Elsie McCabby, Ontario; sister-in-law, Rebecca Roper, New Victoria; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; one great great grandchild, as well as many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her faithful calico companion, Patches (a.k.a. Puss Puss). She was predeceased by husband, Leonard, sons, Clary, Wayne (in infancy) and another stillborn, brothers, Arthur, Russell, Harry and Leonard, sister, Alice (Head) and grandsons, William Leonard (in infancy) and Adam. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 22 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral service will take place Monday, March 23 at 11 a.m. in All Saints Anglican Church with Rev. Carl Fraser officiating. Interment will be in All Saints Anglican Cemetery. A luncheon will be held in the church hall following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the All Saints Memorial Fund or a charity of one's choice. Mary Egan, Sydney at Sydney , Nova Scotia , Canada - We regret to announce the passing of a very well known, lifelong Sydney resident, on March 17, 2009, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care Facility, in her 99th year. Mary L. Egan, affectionately known as 'Mimi', was the younger daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. W.J. Egan. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Redmond; her sister, Charlotte Curtis and brother-in-law, Bill Curtis. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, whom she dearly loved and cherished. A graduate of Mount Saint Vincent College, Halifax, Mary was employed with the Pathology Department of the Sydney City Hospital, until her retirement. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place, under the direction the dignified and dedicated staff of Sydney Memorial Chapel. There will be a private family memorial mass and interment in the family plot at Holy Cross Cemetery, at a later date. Pauline Feit, River Ryan Born in 21/01/1920 - We remember with joy the long and well lived life of Pauline (Jamsek) Feit. She went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Mar. 19, 2009. Born in Radece, Slovania, Jan. 21, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Lorty) Jamsek. Pauline moved at the age of one with her family to France, where she lived for seven years. She came to Canada with her mother Mary, sisters Mary, Frances and Annie in 1928, arriving at Pier 21 in Halifax on the Red Star Liner 'Pennland', where the family met with their father (and husband), Frank Jamsek. Frank had come to Canada earlier to find work and set up his residence. Settling in River Ryan, Pauline married Jospeh Fiet who worked as a coal miner. She was a member of the Parish of St. Leonard, St. Michael Church, River Ryan. Pauline worked for a number of years at Bayside Canteen where her friendliness and warm smile is still remembered. Together Joe and Pauline raised two sons, Frank (Shirley), Notre Dame, N.B., and Michael (Donna), with whom she resided for the past 29 years. Pauline is survived by sons, Frank and Michael; beloved grandchildren, Denna (Dave) Clark, Chapin (Kim) Feit, Aaron Feit, Keenan Feit and Michael Feit; cherished great-grandchildren, Matthew, Brendon, Dylan, Emily, Michael Thomas and Aiden; many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Pauline was predeceased by her husband Joseph, sisters, Mary, Frances, and Annie. Visitation will be held today (Friday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration for Pauline will take place Saturday, Mar. 21 at 10 a.m. in the Parish of St. Leonard, St. Michael Church, River Ryan, with Fr. Paul MacNeil officiating. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery at a later date. There will be a luncheon held immediately following the funeral mass at St. Agnes Hall on Convent Street, New Waterford.
