Stubbert, Bruce William - published March 11, 2009 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bruce William "Duke" Stubbert, 55, Florence - It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Bruce Stubbert, 55, on March 9, 2009, at his home in Florence. Born in Florence, he was the son of the late John Chrles and Margaret (Harris) Stubbert. He was a member of WIlson United Church, Florence. Bruce lived all his life in Florence. He worked mainly as a bartender at the Florence Firemen's Club, the Florence Legion and the Army/Navy Cluv in Bras d'Or, of which he was a member. He was a member of the Florence Legion and a former member of the Florence Volunteer Fire Deparatment. He enjoyed playing darts, music and fishing. He took great pride in his two sons. Bruce is survived by his sons, Bruce and Kyle, of Mississauga, Ontario. He is also survived by sisters, Anne (Kenny) Morris and Joan (Keith) Boutilier, sister-in-law Rita, brothers, Jackie (Marie), Harris (Debbie), twin brother, Bryce (lynn) and Brent (Marlene), and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Bart "Sonny". Visitation for Bruce Stubbert will be held in the J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main Street, Sydney Mines, today (Thursday), March 12, 2009, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A funeral service to celebrate Bruce's life will take place on Friday at 2 pm. in the funeral home chapel, with Norma Mills, DLM officiating.
