    3. The following obituary appeared in the March 7th edition of the Calgary Herald. Hope it helps someone. Ronald MacDonald MacDONALD , Ronald Francis Ronald (Rannie), beloved husband of Maxine passed away peacefully on March 5, 2009 at the age of 82 years. Born in Cape Breton on March 2, 1927 to the late Peter R. and Elizabeth (Burton) MacDonald. Rannie "Beaver" worked for CNR for forty-six years. He was a proud railroader who was well respected for his work ethic and easy going ways. Ronald was an honest man who loved family, friends, music, card games and a good joke. He was athletic (hockey and baseball) in his younger years and in later years enjoyed being a sports fan and proudly supported his grandchildren's activities. Ronald is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Maxine (Richardson); two sons Darren (Louise) and Sheldon; three daughters Debbie (Frank Muller), Kim (Al Ferguson) and Michelle (deceased in 1970); six grandchildren Lauren, Mark, Brittany and Jenna Muller, Mitchel and Kristin Ferguson. Ronald was predeceased by brothers Clifford, Jim, George and Bobbie MacDonald; Joe and Raymond Collier; sisters Julia, Eunice and Arthena. He is survived by Donnie (Barb) Collier, Dellie Dove, and Lorraine Scofield. Ronald and Maxine enjoyed many road trips with John and Lois (Richardson) Dunn (Sydney, NS). Dad was proud of his Cape Breton heritage, and moved with Maxine to Calgary in 2000 to be close to his family. Until his passing he resided at The Villas, where mom and dad made wonderful new friends. A Funeral Mass will be held at Ascension Roman Catholic Parish, 1100 Berkshire Boulevard N.W., Calgary on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to Sarcee Hospice, 3405 - 29 Street S.W., Calgary, Alberta T3E 2L3.
