    1. Re: [NS-CB] Ropek obits [I took notice of the name Delaney]

    3. Hello Kevin; I don't have a Ropek in my data base, but I do have DELANEY. As my mother-in-law is Marie Edna (Delaney) MacDonald, so my curiosity was raised and checked out you web site. > http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~podgursky/ I notice that you have William T. Delaney Page: Tuesday, 28 May, 1974, page 2, NSARM Reel 1695 Text: New Waterford - William (Sailor) Delaney, 64, of 7 Brown's Lane, Scotchtown, died suddenly at the New Waterford Hospital Sunday night. Mr. Delaney suffered a sudden seizure at home. He was born in Cheticamp and lived most of his life in Scotchtown. Mr. Delaney served in the Merchant marine and Later worked in the coal mines. Then he turned to plumbing. He was a vetern of the Second World War and belonged to St. Michael's Parish in Scotchtown. Mr. Delaney is survived by his wife, the former Dora White: daughters (Doreen) Mrs. William Clements, New Bruinswick; (Evelyn) Mrs. William Morrison, New Victoria, and Alene, of Antigonish: sons, William Jr., of California, and Gary, of Germany. There are seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Patrick and a step-brother, Patrick. Two sisters predeceased him. (Harriett) Mrs James and (Tilly) Mrs. Bob Springhill. He is survived by a brother Joseph, of Quebec, and a sister, Mary, of Toronto. The body will rest at McGillivray's Funeral Home in New Waterford, and the funeral will be held Wednesday morning. You have listed William, b. 2 Oct 1910 as being the son of "Joseph Delaney, & Domithilde Cormier". I was unaware of William T. until I checked your web-site. If his birthdate is correct than he was not the son of Domithilde Cormier but of Joseph's 2nd wife Clothilde AuCoin. JOSEPH W DELANEY (aka Jos) b. 15 Jul 1864 & CLOTHILDE AUCOIN b. 09 Aug 1877, d. 05 Jan 1920. They were married 05 Feb 1901, Frair's Head Chapel, Friar's Head, Inv Co, CB, NS Jos & Clothilde's children were: 1.Marie-Donatille; 2. Placide; 3. Louise; 4. Angelique; 5. William T; 6. John Joseph; 7. Sophia-Rose; 8. Marie b. 04 Jan 1920. Clothilde d. the day after Marie was born. Note Joseph W Delaney (aka Jos) had been married twice, his 1st wife was Domithilde Cormier [d. abt 3 Nov 1900] and their children were 1. Luce; 2. Patrice; ; 3. Daniel Joseph; 4. Domathilde [w/o Robt. J. Springhill]; and 5. Henriette b. Nov 3 1900 [w/o James A. Muise]. Joseph's parents were GUILLAUME (aka William)DELANEY b. 15 Apr 1825 & DONATHILDE GALLENT b. ca 1831 and married ca 1854. Guillaume's parents were PATRICK DELANEY b. Inistiage, Kilkenny Ireland d. 18 Jan 1858, Grand Étang, Inv Co, CB, NS & ANGELIQUE LEBLANC. Though you don't appear to have a direct line to the Delaneys, I thought it was very nice of you to include your nephews & niece's maternal ancestral line. My mother-in-law would be one of their oldest living relatives of the Delaneys. She'll be 94 this year. Her paternal ancestral line is MarieEdna/Marcellin P./Patrice/Daniel/Patrick Delaney. She is related to them 10 times over through various family lines, with the closest relationship being 3rd cousin twice removed, and the farthest kinship being 10th cousin once removed. Hopefully one day they to will take an interest in genealogical research as you have appeared to have done, for they will find a rich and varied history in their Irish/French connections.
