Moss, Kevin - published March 23, 2009 Francis Jobes, North Sydney at Sydney , Nova Scotia , Canada - We regret to announce the passing of our loving father, grandfather, uncle and friend, Francis George Jobes, at the Northside General Hospital, on Sunday, March 22, 2009. George was born in Sydney Mines, and grew up in Boularderie. He was the son of the late Hugh Angus and Flora Ann (MacEachern) Jobes. He was a resident of the Northside Community Guest Home, North Sydney. George worked for many years with Progressive Wholesale, until his retirement. He was a very social person, and will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his son, John (Jeannie); grandson, Michael; daughter, Bonita (Barry) Wall; grandchildren, Amber, Angel, Alyssa, Cassie, Amanda, Brianne, Dylan, and Kaden; daughter, Florence (John) Cann; grandchildren, Sam, Rebecca, Tyler, Matthew, Jonathon and Sheila; grandson, Kyle Lewis; a sister, Anne (Leo) Ryan and a sister-in-law, Edith (Sandy) MacInnis. Besides his parents, George was predeceased by his loving wife, Ida Anna (White) in 2007; son, Hughie in 1994; sisters, Mary Sarah, Catherine Perktin, Margaret O'Reilley; brother, John; two siblings in infancy and his father and mother-in-law, Leo and Elizabeth White. Visitation for George Jobes will be held in the J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Please join us in a celebration of George's life on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Fr. Peter MacLeod officiating. The burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks. In lieu of flowers, donations in George's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society. William Hayward Lowther Oct. 28, 1941-March 15, 2009 - William H. Lowther, 67 of Milford, Massachusetts, died Sunday afternoon March 15, 2009 at his residence, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Helen F. (Anthony) Lowther. Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Lewis and Rhoda (Martin) Lowther and lived in Framingham, MA, before moving to Milford in 1974. Mr. Lowther owned and operated B&L Manufacturing Company in Bellingham, MA since 1983. Besides his wife of 48 years, he is survived by two sons, Larry Lowther and his wife, Elizabeth of Milford and William L. Lowther and his wife, Kimberly of Mendon; five grandchildren, Tiffany, Kyle and Kevin Lowther, all of Milford and Brian and William L. Lowther Jr., both of Mendon; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Iris Mader and a brother, Reginald. A graveside service was held March 23, 2009 in Vernon Grove Cemetery, Vernon Street in Milford. Gordon 'Gordie' MacEachern, Bobcaygeon at Glace Bay , Nova Scotia , Canada - It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Gordon Joseph 'Gordie' MacEachern, age 50, at his home in Bobcaygeon, Ont. on March 19, 2009. Formerly of Glace Bay, Gordie is the son of Mary Christine (MacDonald) MacEachern and the late John Hugh MacEachern. Besides his mother, Gordie is survived by his loving wife Louise (Bresson) MacEachern; his sisters, Patricia Mac Eachern, Glace Bay; Doreen (Mike) Burke, Halifax; Elizabeth (David) Raniseth, Glace Bay; Phyllis (Ron) Jackson, Summerside, P.E.I.; Jean Mac Eachern, Glace Bay; brothers, Dr. John (Nancy) MacEachern, Berwick; Neil (Mary) MacEachern, Halifax, as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Besides his father, Gordie was predeceased by his nephew, Neil Brennan MacEachern. Gordie will also be missed by his mother-in-law Doris Bresson as well as the other members of the Bresson family. Duncan MacQueen, Sydney at Sydney , Nova Scotia , Canada - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and great grandfather, Duncan MacQueen, on Monday, March 23, 2009, at the Cove Guest Home, Sydney, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Daniel and Margaret MacQueen. He was an elder of Bethel Presbyterian Church, a member of the Royal Orange Benevolent Society, Loyal True Blue Association and the Cape Breton Gaelic Society. Duncan was employed, for many years, at J. W. Stephens Ltd., Sydney. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially waiting for the grandchildren to arrive. Duncan is survived by his seven children, Art (Heather Kennedy), Mary (Wayne Penny), Elaine (Charlie Dixon), Kathy Hardy, Jimmy (Jo-ann Conn), Linda (Donnie Robertson), Angus (Joanne MacPhee); eight grandchildren, Karen, Keith, Janice, Ashley, Janel, Mark, Meaghan, Joshua; four great-grandchildren, very special niece, Sharon Parago, Boston, as well as many other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Florence MacQueen; son, Donald; and son-in-law, Walter Hardy. Audrey Mae McNeil (nee MacKenzie) was born on August 29, 1933. Audrey is survived by her children, Jimmy (Ann) Tarso, Sharon (Bobby) Stewart, Marie (Greg) Nagam, Patti (Rick) Healey, Peter (Shelly) MacKenzie, Joanne Wilson, Lonnie (Dale) McNeil and Kim (Jack) Kelly; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; brother, Daniel MacKenzie; sisters, Shirley Hart and Helen (Tony) McNeil and sisters-in-law, Mary and Maureen McNeil. Audrey was predeceased by her parents, Alex and Fanny MacKenzie; her husband, Frank McNeil; son, Daniel (Buster) McNeil and very special friend, Gwen MacAskill. Audrey spent her whole life in the Hub; until the last nine months, when she moved in with her daughter Kim; but only under the condition that we make sure she was brought home when her time came. Passed away peacefully at St. Patricks Home, Ottawa on Friday, Mar 13, 2009. Born July 15, 1914 and raised in New Waterford, NS, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Littlewood) Barrows. Surviving are daughters Phyllis MacGillivary (Bill), Dartmouth, Geraldine LaRocque (Bill Thayer), Ottawa; grandchildren Vince, Colleen, Joan, Kathleen, Jeanne, Danny, David and Brenda and nine great grandchildren. Kevin Moss, Sydney Born in 29/11/1946 at Sydney , Nova Scotia , Canada - With great sadness the family announces the passing of Kevin Joseph Moss, 62, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Monday, March 23, 2009, after a brief illness with cancer. Kevin was born in Sydney, the son of the late Patrick and Bernadette (LeBlanc) Moss. He was a member of Holy Redeemer parish and volunteered at the Breakfast Program at Holy Redeemer Parish Center. Kevin was a retired employee of Sobeys, Prince Street where he was employed as a meat cutter, for 25 years. At one time, he was also Union President for Sobeys. Kevin loved to play ball in his younger years, and always enjoyed playing darts and card games. Kevin's greatest treasure was playing his guitar and singing and dancing with his siblings, children and family. He was 'the life of the party'. Kevin was a member of Branch 12, Royal Canadian Legion, Whitney Pier and volunteered at the Breakfast Program on Sunday mornings. Kevin is survived by three daughters, Cora Moss (Carter MacNeil), Pauline Moss (Scott MacLeod) and Angela (Scott) Ross; five grandchildren, Shane, Alicia and Justin Conohan, Olivia and Kale Ross. He is also survived by his ex-wife and mother of his daughters, Linda (Hooper) Boutilier. He is survived by brothers, Gordie (Enis) Moss and Allan (Patsy) Moss, both from Sydney; sisters, Mary Moss, Oshawa, Ont., Clara Pike (Ron) and Patricia Murphy (Tom); and sister-in -law, Regina Moss-Murphy (Kevin), all of Cape Breton. Besides his parents, Kevin was predeceased by two brothers, Ernie (age 38 in 1993) and Leo (in infancy) and a sister, Helen Cormier in December 2008. Visitation for the late Mr. Kevin Moss will be held Wednesday, March 25 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. with entrance on Church Street, Whitney Pier.
