Hi everyone: My great grandfather, John Morley (1844-ca1901) married Theresa Gillis (1869-?) Theresa is the daughter of Hugh Gillis and Margaret MacAskill. Hello Wilf, My maternal Great Grandmother Catherine (Kate) was a sister to your Theresa. The information I have on Hugh & Margaret is from the book A West Wind to East Bay by A.J. MacMillan Hugh "the Tailor" c 1807 married Margaret "Peggie" MacAskill of BenEoin , and settled just east of the church at East Bay. They had eleven children: 1 John,2 Mary,3 Donald,4 Joseph, 5 Teresa,6 Elizabeth, 7 Margaret 8 Hugh 9 Catherine 10 Veronica and 11 Simon. 5 Teresa c.1849 married John Morley [Fred, George], of Portage East Bay and settled in Sydney Margaret was the third child of ten children, mother's name unknown, father Aonghas (Angus) MacAskill. Angus was born in Prince Edward Island & came to Cape Breton around 1815. He lived in Ben Eoin died in 1863 at the age of 86. note of interest the book has listed two children for Angus named Margaret MacAskill the first child who was my paternal Great Great Grandmother.
