MacAskill, Bruce Corbitt - published February 17, 2009 Warren Stanley Blundon, Grand Mira North Born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada, - Life is not measured by years although taken at such a young age Warren 'WSB' enjoyed a fulfilling fun life. Warren passed away Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Sydney, he was the son of Mrs. Marie (Walker) Blundon, Dutch Brook, and the late Ron Blundon. Warren worked for the Department of Transportation for the past 29 years, where he enjoyed conversations with the people who he encountered on the country roads. Warren had a passion for nature, he loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and boating on the Mira. Besides his mother, Warren is survived by his best friend and wife of 25 years, Natalie (Presseau) Blundon; two sons, Carl (Erin), Marion Bridge, Spencer (Candace), Lethbridge; his brothers, Danny (Susie), Halifax, Billy (Arlene), London, Blair (Willena), Cape North. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Frances Presseau, father-in-law, Bob (Fran) Presseau, sisters-in-law, Florence (Brent) Sutherland, Roberta (Darren) MacNeil; as well as four nephews, Cory, Matthew, Daniel, Kevin; four nieces, Leah, Erin, godchild, Jillian, and Emma. Besides his father, Ronnie, he was predeceased by his brother, Jason. He will be missed by all the gals and guys in Mira where he made some of his truest friendships. Visitation will be take place Thursday, Feb. 19 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. A celebration of Warren's life will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20 at the funeral home chapel with a reception to follow. Interment to take place in Sandfield Cemetery at a later date. In memory of Warren, donations may be made to the Cape Breton Palliative Care or charity of choice. Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Richard and Ann Ella (Powell) Harriss. An innovative and well-known construction businessman for over 60 years, Victor owned & operated Meadows Sand and Gravel Ltd. and Harriss and Harriss Ltd. Vic along with his wife, Joan enjoyed many long hours at their property at Northside East Bay, sailing the "Caprice" on the Bras d'Or Lakes. He was predeceased by his wife, Joan (Young); sisters, Eunice Harriss and Beatrice Daly; brothers, Herb and Richard. Vic was the last surviving member of his immediate family. A memorial service will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday 2 p.m., with Rev. Robert Lyle officiating. Interment will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to the United Way or the Salvation Army. Born May 11, 1942, in Reserve Mines, N.S., he was the son of the late Tim Roach and the late Annie Morrison and the foster child of the late Charlie Deveaux and the late Marie-Mae (Roach) Deveaux, formerly of Point Cross, N.S. He is survived by his wife, the former Faye Sylvia MacPhee; son, Danny, London, Ont.; daughter, Penny, Woodstock; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; brother, Lorne and sister, Marilyn, both of Woodstock; a half-brother, Ernie, Sydney, N.S.; half-sister, Margie, Windsor, Ont. and a foster brother, Joe Louis Deveaux, Moncton, N.B. Cremation has taken place. Jean Peacefully, at The Village of Wentworth Heights, Hamilton, Ontario on Sunday, February 15, 2009, in her 85th year. Beloved wife of Fraser for 53 years, who predeceased her in 2001. Dear mother of David and his wife Elizabeth of London, Jim and his wife Anne of Woodstock and Robert and his wife Marilyn of Heidelberg, Ontario. Loving grandmother of Gregory (and wife Erin), and Daniel (and wife Luann), Brian, Jill, Drew, Heather and Michael, and great-grandmother of Claire and Noelle. She was predeceased by her parents Donald (Danny) and Edith MacLean, and her brothers Grant and Roy, of Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. She is survived by her brother Donald (and wife Suzanne) of Toronto, and many nieces and nephews. Jean was a graduate in nursing of the Glace Bay General Hospital in 1947, and worked at several hospitals and nursing homes in St. Jacobs and Hamilton. She was a long time member of the Emmanuel United Church in Hamilton, and is fondly remembered by her many church friends. The family is grateful for the care received by Jean from the doctors, nurses and staff of the Juravinski Cancer Centre, Henderson Hospital and The Village of Wentworth Heights. Resting at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Avenue East, Hamilton. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2009. A funeral service will be held at Emmanuel United Church, 871 Upper Ottawa Street, Hamilton at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2009. Cremation is to follow.
